Last day of preorder! I started this collection, published by the amazing @hayley.haugen and @sheilanagigky Editions, as an experiment: Could I challenge myself to write 26 abecedarians and 26 beautiful outlaws? As it turns out, I could. The result is Domiciliary, which features a beautiful cover from one of my favorite nature-forward artists, @marthaworthyart, and a stunning blurb from Miami-Dade Poet Laureate @natallman. I love everything about this book—from the deep green color to the square shape chosen to accommodate the long lines. If you like and/or teach form as well as combining two or more forms into a single poem, this one’s for you. And if you don’t like form, maybe you will after reading it! Link in bio. 📖

Yesterday was a beautiful afternoon at the Westchester Regional Library for the screening of Poetry City, a documentary film by @aaron_glickman exploring Miami’s vibrant poetry and spoken-word community.

It was an honor to be part of the conversation alongside Miami-Dade County Poet Laureate @natallman , reflecting on the film, our experiences as poets, and where the poetry scene in Miami is today. A special thank you to Janelle Gonzalez , the branch manager, for moderating such a thoughtful conversation.

It was wonderful to see the room filled with people who care about poetry, and especially to see the group of teenagers from Urgent Ink @urgentinc arrive with their teacher, @shedia_nelson . Seeing a new generation of young writers in the audience was truly meaningful.

Thank you to the Miami-Dade Public Library System @miamidadepubliclibrary for screening the film and creating space for this conversation. And a big shout-out to Jennifer Shipley @gardengrl26 for organizing the entire program and coordinating all the details.

Poetry is alive in Miami. And yesterday was a beautiful reminder of how many people are still listening, writing, sharing, and finding their voices.
