Double stripes, double trouble!

Huge congrats to our twins on earning their stripes in ladies class today — every rep, every round, all tied up in those belts now. So proud of you two!

Ladies class brought the technique, then comp class turned the heat all the way up — the kids especially, getting ready to compete at the Brave Kids Jiu Jitsu tournament next weekend. Let’s gooo! 🔥

Saturdays at Orient just hit different.

Who’s pulling up next Saturday? 👀

First session, first introduction to the place command and confidence came before duration.
You can see in the beginning, she was pretty unsure. She didn’t really know what I wanted, and she was nervous about even putting her feet on the cot.

So instead of forcing the command or immediately asking her to stay there, we broke the exercise down.
The first goal was simple: just walk across it. Get some feet on it, build a little confidence, and let her figure out that there’s nothing to be worried about.

At one point I actually flipped the place cot upside down. That made the exercise a little easier and less intimidating, and it also gave me an opportunity to show her handler how to encourage her through it without creating more pressure. Once she started getting comfortable walking across it that way, we flipped it back over and repeated the exact same idea.
Now she’s starting to understand that stepping onto the place cot is no big deal. This is an important part of dog training that sometimes gets skipped. Before I worry about duration, corrections, or holding position, I want the dog to understand the exercise and feel confident doing it.

The place command itself comes next.
Great job on her very first private session. This is just the beginning, and I’m looking forward to showing you guys how she progresses.

Jordan with an unbelievable miller being caught by @nate__dee .

Pay attention to how much Jordan compresses in the back swing and then how open his shoulder angle is just before the tap.

If anyone's going to catch quad pike... It's this guy.
