Be delusional. It might pay off.

This year I had a pretty mid season going into regionals. Each race I ran was consistent, averaging around a 10:00 3200 and 4:40 1600 every race. I never felt I was able to truly leave it all out there. My times were equivalent to what I was running last year. So when I told Coach “You’re looking at the future 3200 region champ” before leaving for the meet I did not at all believe what I was saying and felt crazy delusional seeing how my season has gone compared to my competitors. On top of the fact I didn’t have the luxury of going in fresh since I was running the 1600 before the 3200. But after a super mid 4:43 1600 I was able to bring in an extremely unexpected win in the 3200 with a time of 9:53.55 to finally bring in an individual region title. The race was for sure the most tactical race I’ve ever had to run. We split roughly 5:06 for mile 1 and 4:47 for mile 2 with lots of moves made throughout. Then we managed to close in around 26 for the last 200m. As always it was fun to compete with the best talent the region had to offer and congrats to everyone who competed. I’m excited to see you all go at it again next year. Thankful to God for the great race last night and the opportunity to compete at state.
