My image of a hare hiding among a field of purple flowers has been selected as a finalist in Vuoden Luontokuva 2026. Out of 11,637 images submitted by 762 photographers, only 399 images reached the finals, making this a great honour.

This is the first time, I participated in Vuoden Luontokuva (Finnish Nature Photo of the Year), Finland's most prestigious wildlife photography competition and one of the largest nature photography contests in the Nordic countries.‌

A big congratulations to all fellow photographers who made it far in the competition including @jari_peltomaki @jonnajwood @janneronnifi @tuomasheinonenphotography

Big congrats to @anttikorpela for securing 3rd place in the Bird Category.

And a big thank you to my partner @moniqab for helping me navigate and understand the Finnish language better and better😊.

ORNATE EAGLE RAY

This is AVN-013. Probably female, and last seen over a year before I saw her but in roughly the same location! So cool that ID was possible from the drone. Thanks to Rebecca @fin_focus :)

The ornate eagle ray (Aetomylaeus vespertilio) is one of the rarest and most elusive rays in the world, often nicknamed the "unicorn of the sea".

👀This fish is all details…

🤯 Spiky fins with ragged edges, little hairy bits all over the body, and skin covered in tiny star-shaped plates.
Even the snout is weird, a long thin tube they use to suck up tiny shrimp. The front fin on the back has long, thin spines sticking straight up, and the fins underneath are big and frilly.
When they hang upside down next to a crinoid or sea fan, they basically disappear.🫥

Did you know that this fish even exists ?😅

📍 Game Reserve, Cape Town, South Africa (Visited in 2022)

Watching elephants go about their uninterrupted morning routine in their natural habitat is more peaceful and beautiful up close than I expected.

Located on the outskirts of Cape Town, South Africa, the reserve offers incredible wildlife experiences, most notably the opportunity to see the Big Five animals: lions, leopards, rhinoceroses, Cape buffaloes, and elephants.

Game drives and safari tours are popular tourist attractions, allowing visitors to observe these animals in their natural habitat while helping ensure their protection and the preservation of their environment.
