College and Professional Pitchers🔥

What cues actually work, external or internal cues?🤷🏻‍♂️

What will benefit an athlete more, internal or external cues or somewhere in the middle? To really break it down, it comes down to who the athlete is and how they best respond to the coaching🤔

However, one thing to note is that no matter if they respond more of the external, internal or in the middle just remember this, whatever task is ask of them, they need to figure it out on their own and over coaching will hurt🫡

Me personally, I try the more external or more neutral approach. At the end of the day, I can tell a guy to stay closed longer or feel is arm flip up but I cannot do that all day🤦🏻‍♂️

This is where constraints such as my personal favorite torso or one knee throws come in or working on command from a 90-120 flat ground or 70 foot bullpen (if your facility allows that)🎯

Why? Because at the end of the day it is up to the athlete to figure out the task on his own📊

At the end of the day, as coaches we are just glorified guidance counselors🤙🏼

Yes an approach behind catch play and pitching, this isn’t an argument for that.

However, there should be the amount of thinking in throwing should be limited. Such as what is a task and how can I achieve it, this is where the constraint led approach comes in📈
