Day out on the South Fork with @nathanielmurphy getting some rare front of the boat time in! He made the best of it!

This is such a big river with so many opportunities! Rarely will you leave skunked but you know some big ones live in there and you always have fingers crossed!

“The South Ramp of Loma Larga is a grandiose giant, a 4,000-vertical-foot descent to the bottom of the apron. This was my second attempt, as I’d been forced to turn around last year by a challenging bergschrund crossing and generally dangerous conditions, but it stuck with me over the past year and was one of the main reasons I wanted to return to Chile.  

“Reaching camp required a day of walking and another day waiting for the snow to set up before going for the line itself. The valley beyond the first pass was deep, cold and committing, and reaching the top took everything we had. By far the deepest snow I’ve ever ridden at 16,500 feet. The whole mission took 17 hours from camp to camp, and we didn’t reach the tents until 10p.m.
