Real men of God do exist. But as women, we must learn to let them serve us. Not because we’re incapable of doing something ourselves but because we are allowed to be served & are also called to serve. This is not exclusive to being in a relationship - but simply it is serving one another in love & humility. Don’t overcomplicate this & just because he serves you, doesn’t mean he’s your husband. It’s as simple as what Paul says in Galatians..
“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.”
[Galatians 5:13]

Sit down & read your Bible. I spent years of my life bringing my Bible to church & then the whole week, leaving it on my coffee table untouched. I get that it feels daunting & like a lot of work but push past that & just start with reading one verse. You will be so surprised with what happens when you actually give God a minute or more of your time. The Bible does something in our life that nothing else can…
“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
[Hebrews 4:12]

Make the effort with your family, biological or not. Call your grandma & wish her happy birthday. Buy your mom flowers. Drive home & say hey just because. Hit the FaceTime button on the family group chat & see who answers. Send the text saying, “I love you.” Have all your friends over. Go out of your way to love them.
“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.” [Proverbs 17:17]

Learn to be serious, spontaneous, & silly. We live our lives so uptight & it’s important to learn how to breathe. Remember, these three things are healthy when used with awareness & consideration. “Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” [John 7:38] We are called as believers to be alive, active, and free flowing. Not rigid and dry. So, go have some fun but also use wisdom & awareness.

If you want friends, put the time in & be a good friend. Go on walks. Drink coffee together.

“As I’ve grown, I think I understand how human they really were. I understand why they did it, because their love for people…And that’s ultimately all right because they’re human, but it doesn’t justify what it did to me. And I think I had to come to a conclusion where, I’m hurt by what was happened. I’m hurt by, by how they stewarded it, but I understand their heart behind why they did it. “If I had somebody that was a little older than me, that was a little smarter than me, but that was also just real and honest, that would’ve probably changed a lot for me. If I just had somebody that didn’t look at me through the lens of my parents, of me being a pastor’s kid. You know, it’s hard to say, but I would imagine, I would imagine that the way that I was living would’ve been shifted a lot because ultimately we are all influenced by the people you hang around, and all I hung around was people that were gonna influence me to do bad things. So if I got around somebody long enough that that were to influence me to more of a direction of the Lord, I think my life would’ve shifted earlier on.” @nathansilva37

I had an expectation as a pastor’s kid that I had to keep perfect And little did my parent, did I know that my parents never looked at me as perfect. It was only people that did. Confronting realities often bring light to dark places within your heart to even maybe heal. And I think that’s more than okay. “I remember telling my parents later on about some of the things that I was doing in Europe and, and I remember calling them saying I did X, Y, and Z And I think the, the most beautiful thing about what my parents did was they never were like, “I’m flying to Europe, and I’m gonna take you out of there.” They never met me with anger. They just said, “Well, you know you shouldn’t have done that. Thank you for telling me. We’re gonna go through the consequences together.” They just met me with understanding. I would even encourage you to even tell your parents ‘cause you would never know how they react…What they meet you with may be something that you would never, ever expect that could ultimately change the trajectory of your life.” @nathansilva37
