Half term is finally here, and there’s only ONE thing I can think of... The Girl Who Raced the World: Journey Into the Jungle! 🌴📚 Nina knew exactly where to find a copy… She really loved the first book when Tom at @mostlybooks picked it as their Chapter Hunters book club read, so there was no question where we’d go for the sequel. Thank you @mostlybooks for always keeping up with our book demands! Have you read it yet? 🍃 🌺 The Girl who Raced the World: Journey into the Jungle 🌺🍃 @natharrisonauthor @piccadilly.press @the_rebel_reading_society @tomclohosycole 🌿 I cannot tell you how greatly anticipated this sequel was for me! If you have read The Girl who Raced the World, you will also be truly captivated by Nat’s follow up. If you haven’t read it, what are you waiting for? 🗺️ Journey into the Jungle picks up right where book one ended and we are submerged into more fast-paced and thrilling action and adventure. So many favourite characters return in book two, with the addition of many more greats. Nat really knows how to develop characters that we will all love and cherish. Maggie continues to be fearless and forward, encouraged by the feisty and heroic Valentine. Passepartout still has my heart ❤️. 🌿 Journey into the Jungle starts when a mysterious visitor arrives at No. 7 Savile Row seeking help, whilst on his deathbed. The fearless foursome embark on a mission which is not as it seems. Who can they trust and can they rescue Amelia West? 🌺 The ending was a shout-out-loud, “YES!” moment for me and I absolutely adored the final chapter. Valentine is such an important character and I adore her confidence. 🌿 If you enjoy thrilling stories that keep you on the edge of your seat, then this is the book for you! Moore_books seal of approval!! 🌺 A massive thank you @_reading_rocks_ for selling early copies! You’re a legend!

The Girl Who Raced the World by Nat Harrison On the inside cover, the three words describing this book are: Travel, adventure and secrets…and they describe the book perfectly! A clever story for fans of historical narratives, adventures and the TV show ‘Race across the world’. It’s a wonderful adventure story that gets you hooked from the beginning. A reimagined version of Jules Verne’s story: Around the World in Eighty Days is perfect children in Year 5 and 6. It follows the story of young Maggie whose beloved mother dies at the start of the book. The parting words from her mother are… ‘My love, you must deliver this letter. Tell this man your name and that you are my daughter. He will help you.’ So Maggie sets off to find the mysterious Monsieur Passepartout. After an unsettling journey, she stumbles across Mr Passepartout finding out that he is to be a valet for Mr Phileas Fogg on his race around the world. Fogg has made a wager for £20,000 with some gentlemen at the Reform Club that he can make it around the world in eighty days. He needs Passepartout to hastily prepare them for a train setting off for Dover in less than an hour…but Passepartout refuses to go on the trip without Maggie. Therefore, she is hired as a second assistant and all three set off at night for the adventure of a lifetime. Fast-paced from the start, this is an unforgettable story and would be a thrilling read aloud or a page turner for an individual reader. The book has a lot of heart and you will enjoy engaging with these characters…especially Maggie. #thegirlwhoracedtheworld #theliteracycompany #bookreview #travelbooks #adventure

💥KIDS BOOK GROUP💥 Because I like to be organised, I’ve got the books for the next three kids book groups - the last three of 2026 - here in Ye Olde Shoppe. 25/10 - The Haunting of Old Splinter by @jamackay_ - £8.99 22/11 - How to Train Your Zombie by @joshuawinning - £7.99 20/12 - The Girl Who Raced the World: Journey into the Jungle by @natharrisonauthor 💥PUBLISHED 22/10 - £12.99💥 As you are probably aware by now, kids fiction is a huge passion of mine, and my kids book group gives me life and fills my heart. We meet once a month - always on a Sunday and always upon the hour of 3. AND the author always joins us too. There’s book talk, we hear from the author all about the inspiration, the writing process, what makes them tick, what books they loved and still love. There’s questions (and even answers) and there’s laughter and noise and nonsense. Throw in book signings and photos, and you can see why an hour or so on a Sunday with a room full of my young book lovers (and their parents - THIS IS NOT A CRÈCHE) and an amazing author, is something that I truly love. We have regulars that come every month (one even sits in the same spot every single month) some come every now and then or when they can - or if the book is their sort of thing, cos as we all know, not all books are for everybody - and there’s a new face or two every month too) Another wonderful thing is that the parents often ask questions and give feedback too. So if you have any book lovers that you think would like to be part of this, simply bring them along and join in the fun. Naturally and obviously I always want more attendees. So spread the word and share this post far and wide all across the land. And coming soon … my (quite simply brilliant) bookmark with all the dates for 2027 👊🏼📚❤️ #bookgroup #kidsbookgroup #childrensbookgroup #lovebooks #readingmatters

A little later than usual but here are my September reads. I was on a bit of a roll until an illness slowed down my reading. However, I still managed to read some fantastic books and I’ve never been more grateful for audiobooks. Reviews to follow soon hopefully 🤞🏼 💙

📚Rebel Reading Fest 2026📚 The boys loved the Chicken Hill Comic Take Over with @beccyblakeartist ( so much so, my eldest read Chicken Hill during the breaks between authors) , it was then onto the Reading festival over the stunning @stpeterspoole The boys loved meeting some of their favourite authors. They especially loved being introduced to some new books to them - which then inspired my eldest to go off and read them too. Of course, we couldn’t go to a book festival without buying new books from @_reading_rocks_ - we were extremely lucky to pick up @natharrisonauthor’s sequel The Girl Who Raced the Word: Journey to Jungle ( out 22nd October) My youngest is learning about the jungle this term, so he’s excited to read this one too. My eldest also fell in love with Leina and the Lord of Toadstools , which we bought from @anywherebookclub ( it was lovely to meet you guys again!). The boys had a brilliant day meeting ⭐️ @rashmiwriting ⭐️ @mayo.ao.writer ⭐️ @shireenlaljiwrites ⭐️ @samanthalewisauthor ⭐️ @natharrisonauthor ⭐️ @alexatkinsonstories ⭐️ @tibolota They read lots of books, inspired by lots of books and had an amazing time drawing too. The perfect bookish day out! Was also lovely to meet up with @thereadingspark @tash_hyde @mrsmoonsroom @1raydene and @moore_books too.
