Today’s hike up South Piedra Lisa Trail was a fun one! The rain held off til we turned around to come back down and then it got gnarly quick.

🌧️Rain and some serious wind hit us and all of the sudden we started hiking down quite quickly. We don’t normally get a chance to use our rain jackets very often in Albuquerque, but we tested their rain worthiness today. Fortunately, the adventure rain/wind only lasted about half an hour, and by the end of the hike it was dry, light breezes, and the blue sky was peeking out.

⛰️But the adventure of it with the wind/rain made it fun and we were already talking about our next hike coming up on Nov 14. Interested? Stay tuned for the Nov event details coming to you in a post next week.

Chicago Marathon 2026 with NWR!! @native_women_run yet again, checked off another bucket list item for me!! Every time I run with NWR it just gets better and better! Being there with my native sisters was a DREAM!

This felt more like a girls trip to me because we did more laughing than talking 🤣🤣 I’m so happy I got to see @hozhorunner4 & @jocemcintosh again!! I look up to these ladies so much! I was so excited to meet @ohhsnap_photobooths & @pamtsooo! We all had so much fun together and have plans to hopefully make it into another upcoming world major in the near future! 🤞🏽🤞🏽😉😉

Chicago was a tough one only because the conditions weren’t what we wanted but we all went in with the determination to finish and that’s exactly what we did!! We received so much encouragement along the course and had a Native American cheer station at mile 22, with a drum circle!!!! 😍😍My race time didn’t go as planned but I never expected to have as much fun as I did before, during and after the race.. it was a full on party! 🎉 I love being able to be in these spaces representing NWR and myself!!

I know my dad is looking down on me and is so proud. Even when I had tears in my eyes, struggling on a hot course, I had this thought that he and Jesus were looking down at me saying, “That’s our girl!! Look at her go!” 😭😭 I asked for prayers/good vibes and I absolutely felt them. There is power in prayer y’all! 🫶🏽🫶🏽

Highlights from the Indigenous People's Weekend + Native American Food Truck Festival Inagural 5k Run/1M walk! An opportunity for us to battle our own health disparities through movement & community. Movement is medicine. Miigwech, Pidamaya, Pinagigi - thank you to all our run clubs & allies who showed out this year to get better on a Sunday!

We are grateful to have honored our Twin Cities Indigenous Run Clubs (IndigeFit Youth, Four Winds & Native Women Run) & our Montessori American Indian Childcare Center. We have Native run clubs in our cities that never existed 10 years ago - we are always building over here! Special thanks to our race coaches, who wear many different hats in their respective communities as athletes & role models. After Duke City Marathon this weekend, we are taking things a little easier this week and are heading out for a hike on Saturday, 10/24.

You’re invited, so grab some water + snacks and we will see you there!

⭐️Group Hike, 4.2 miles
🗓️Sat, Oct 24 at 8:30 am
📍South Piedra Lisa Trail
⛰️This hike has 1,243 ft of elevation gain in a little over two miles, so bring water you can carry on the hike. We will take a break on the way up.
🚙Turn off of Tramway Blvd, and drive 2.3 miles on Forest Rd 333 (head towards the La Luz trailhead, but pass it and the South Piedra Lisa trailhead will be ahead on the left). Note: the last bit of the drive is on a dirt road, but it’s very drivable.

NWR at the @dukecitymarathon races was a big success yesterday!

⭐️We had a team of six runners represent our run club at the half marathon, 10k, and 5k races and we were joined by lots of other @native_women_run runners from all over throughout the day.

🤗What a joy to see all the ❤️ everyone has for NWR. From showing up for the group photos, to volunteering at our cheer station, creating their own cheer stations, and all the kind words we received throughout the day - we really enjoyed this race in our hometown.

📣And a special shout out to our friends from the Albuquerque lululemon store who came out to cheer with us. We appreciate your support of our running community!

❤️Big thanks to @big5 for sponsoring our entries to the race! It was great working with you over the past few weeks and such a treat to meet you in person. We would love to partner again in the future.

✨12 Hours Later✨

We may have been pretty ‘loopy’ by the end of it, but crossing the finish line and ringing that bell was unforgettable!!

Shoutout to Vaughn and Joe who got their PR with 44 miles ! I got my PR with 33!

This is literally a highlight reel so let me tell you, when we were at mile 3 of the 5 mile loop, 28 miles in — those are the miles that make us family.

We were so grateful for everyone who paced us, cheered for us, and supported us every step of the way!! No way I could have done it without our whole group! 🫶🏽

Oh, and that aid station was a godsend, and the volunteers are the real heroes. 😮‍💨🙌🏽

Thank you @loppetfoundation for all the amazing memories from this weekend!

I’m soo happy when I see them and have incredible support..especially the cheering at critical moments!! FRYBREAD POWER! Is real. Guess what!? @native_women_run I don’t even wanna do a race recap because I don’t want this to ever end.
I absolutely love leading and being in these spaces, making room for others to grow, learn and share in these adventures!

September was a very difficult month. It was interesting returning back to the USA, but to run the Chicago marathon. I got my best time and I had a good time running and appreciate the pacer Paul! Paul and Cheryl are people I met on my way to Sydney for another race!
I did fall a bit behind Paul, the second half but I had the best time ever enjoying the crowds, sights and sounds of Chicago.
i’m always grateful to @hozhorunner4 who works countless hours behind the scenes to make this all happen and has a lot of work still left to do in the running space. Her efforts do not go unnoticed.

Thank you to my family for supporting me and cheering me on.

Onwards and upwards for the next adventure!

Second half marathon done! Coming off an injury I wasn’t even sure I’d be able to do it but I’m happy we got it done.
Thank you again to @native_women_run and @runcrs for sponsoring my race! Doing this on my dad’s birthday was the cherry on top, happy heavenly birthday dad I love you so much and I miss you ❤️

✨Marathon Memories ✨

My muscles might be feeling the pain of yesterdays miles, but thankfully my mind does not!!

Grateful for all the beautiful memories created and shared yesterday at the 2026 Ȟaȟa Wakpadaŋ Loopet Loppet! Every person involved is what makes these races so special! 🫶🏽

We had so many Native runners participating yesterday— and one completed his first ultra/ marathon!! Howah — that energy was powerful!

@native_women_run and @4windsrunningclub had a blast through those trails yesterday. We all might be a little ‘loopy’ still, but it was all totally worth it. 🤭

Thank you @loppetfoundation for hosting such a beautiful race! We had such a wonderful time with the community!!

And thank you @david.w.bitner for strengthening our community partnerships! We appreciate you!!

Sorry for the late sharing on the cheer station. We were trying to figure out the exact location.

But you can join us tomorrow, 10/18,to cheer on our runners. We will be cheering near the half marathon turn around point so this spot will allow us to cheer on half and marathon runners (we want to get something near the finish line to enable us to cheer on everyone, but with the road closures it was hard).

The main road near the half marathon turn around point is Candelaria. If you park in the residential area, please be quiet and respectful of the residents and do not block any driveways.

Wear your NWR shirts if you can! See you there.
