SUNDAY SNOOP // ERIKA’S GREAT ROOM When @erika and her husband purchased their 1927 stone home in New Canaan, CT, they saw the potential beneath its dated interiors - what she described as a “1980s Country Club” vibe. They’ve been lovingly restoring and reinventing the house ever since. And while Erika can’t quite put a name to her style, the result feels distinctly them: refined but rustic, warm and soulful, but with a decidedly modern edge. And nowhere is that vision more apparent than in their spectacular new kitchen and dining room. What were once two separate, low-ceilinged spaces are now one soaring, light-filled great room, with reclaimed wood overhead, stone underfoot, and beautiful slate-blue cabinetry tying it all together. But for Erika, good design is as much about living as it is about looking. Think two dishwashers (teenagers!), no upper cabinets, and a space that works just as well for a casual family dinner as it does for a dressed-up evening with friends. If Erika looks familiar, you may know her as the first CEO of Barstool Sports, author of Nobody Cares About Your Career, and founder of @worklikeagirl These days, she’s also co-founder of @mulemedia - a new venture with Layla Lisiewski of @thelocalmomsnetwork creating an ecosystem designed around how women actually live and work. Come SNOOP around with us 👀, and don’t miss the before photos. You won’t believe the transformation! Measuring for Rough-Ins. It’s not as easy as you think, especially when I chose 2 Right Handed Spouts to be placed in the trough sink anchored by 2 Round Mirrors above! THE CHALLENGE Placing the faucets in a place that feels balanced with everything that was making it feel unbalanced. The magic measurement was 23 1/4” ✨ THE SOLUTION We centered the left faucet spout 23 1/4” from the wall and the right faucet is centered on the thermostat controller. This leaves an even amount of space from the inner sink to each faucet and aligns nicely with the round mirrors! It’s small adjustments, mathematics and intuition that bring it together…oh yeah and teamwork!!! @brettjohnson92024 Taking the extra time to tweak and measure makes all the difference! #theathenaproject #underconstruction #leucadia #nativetrails #lacavadesigns
