I spent today getting to help the most wonderful human with her first large scale installation solo show @westernhillsgarden. We love this place and are fortunate to have our home near. Nat was so inspired by the stewardship that Kent and Hadley have for the gardens she created 10 large scale pieces across the space inspired by what grows here. I’m in constant awe of the hard work, collaboration, vision, and dedication she gives to herself and others. I adore you and cheers to this bespoke installation my love.

The “We the Makers” Exhibition is opening today at Arts Benicia in California 💙 “Woven Together” is a collaboration piece between @natjoydesign and myself, and is on display through Sept. 27! My dear friend Natalie created these beautiful blue cyanotype botanical ribbons, which I used to create this weaving mounted on birch wood panel.

“What happens when artists give up sole artistic control and ownership of an artwork in favor of expanding the creative process? There are benefits and challenges to collaboration. The process can bring surprise, joy, ambiguity, compromise, communication, frustration, all ending in an agreeable finishing point. Working together to combine perspectives and art practices, we create something that could not have been created alone.”

I unfortunately can’t attend the opening tonight (as I live 1600 miles away from the gallery), but here are the details if you’re in the Bay Area!
💙 Opening Public Reception: Saturday, August 15, 4–6 pm
💙 On display through September 27, 2026!

The second weekend of Open Studios is coming up!

I got to know these 3 women through the Incubator program @sebastopolarts. You don’t want to miss a chance to visit them in the studio.

@natjoydesign Makes gorgeous cyanotypes using fresh botanicals. The results are ethereal and rich. You get a sense of place and movement. She capture the aliveness of nature.

@chrisfieldart finds inspiration in nature and the beauty of Sonoma county. Whether it’s pastels, encaustic or digital media, there is no denying her talents.

@sandravanblair These paintings have to be seen to believed! Her inspiration is music heros from her youth. She renders these with emotion and a depth of humanity that will move you as much as the music does.

June is here, and with it comes a couple of exciting events and opportunities to spend time in the garden.

This month we’re kicking off Wine & Wander, our new member gathering series. Join us for an evening of Sonoma County wines, seasonal garden highlights, and after-hours access to explore the collection with a glass in hand. It’s a chance to slow down, connect with fellow members, and experience the garden in a different light.

Later in the month, we’re welcoming back longtime instructor Natalie Joy Tremblay for a cyanotype workshop inspired by the beauty of Western Hills. Using sunlight and foraged plant materials gathered from the garden, participants will create their own botanical blueprints while learning this historic photographic process.

We hope you’ll join us for one, or both, of these special June gatherings. Visit the link in our bio for details and registration.
