LIFE IN JAVA - A Short Film
🎬Made by Billy Moar
🎵Soundtrack by Cemal Eroglu

Recently I had the privilege to go on a study tour with a group of talented students and mentors from Western Sydney University. Our adventures took us across the island of Java in Indonesia, in which we filmed documentaries about the dance organisation Kinnara Kinnari and its founder Pak Eko.

During the month we spent there, we learnt an incredible amount about local Javanese culture, the people, and the history of Borobudur. The family of Kinnara Kinnari gave us an insight into local arts, through dancing, puppet shows and performances, whilst also welcoming us with open arms, treating us like family.

No media could hope to capture the essence of this place. Over 140 million stories linger, waiting to be told. The mountains watch over the beautiful landscape like guardians. Ancient temples give us a mere glimpse at Java’s fascinating history, however, they stand tall as if they were built yesterday.

On this adventure, I met some of the most inspiring people I have ever talked to, and I hope to pass on their courage and wisdom through my stories. I have so much to be grateful for, and I will never forget this experience.

Terima kasih, Indonesia.
