POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Yesterday we closed the doors on what was truly one of the most inspiring and soul-shifting three days… and honestly, I needed some time in nature to process what I was feeling in my bones. 🤍

We began with intimate and vulnerable study tours, followed by a powerful day with Dr. Jody Carrington surrounded by 170 incredible educators. She reminded us that this work is “holy work” and that if the big people aren’t okay, the little people don’t stand a chance.

We finished surrounded by community members, families, educators, organizations, and a team deeply committed to helping people feel seen, connected, and valued.

There were laughs.
There were tears.
There were conversations cracked wide open by data reminding us that many of the rules we are operating under no longer fit the world we live in today.

But what stood above all else was community.

A special thank you to Indigenous Elder Dodie Jones for inviting us into your world and sharing your story, song, wisdom, and spirit with us. Your presence grounded this gathering in such a meaningful and sacred way. 🤍

And to everyone who made this event possible our incredible team, presenters, vendors, volunteers, community partners, and the Professional Development Bursary thank you for believing so deeply in this work and in the power of connection.

To my team… there truly are no words big enough for the gratitude I feel. The exhibit was astounding, the work we witnessed in practice was inspiring, and the love poured into every detail was felt deeply.

What feels most prevalent after these three days is this:

We are changing the world right here in our little community of Kelowna.
One regulated interaction at a time.
One relationship at a time.
One child at a time.

Connection is the key to community, trust, and joy and I feel so blessed to walk alongside humans doing this sacred work every single day….. Just walking ourselves and others Home! 🤍 #bellavitaearlylearning #elowyn #drjodycarrington #earlylearning #reggioemiliainspired

It is possible to climb trees by the sea + do math.

It is possible to learn about place and culture through cooking together + map exploration.

It is possible to develop fluency cozied up in a bean bag.

It is possible that writing is more fun when you can share notes along the way with a friend.

@roots_letsplay, we’re a “yes, and…” kind of place. Our Educators are experts at supporting children’s exploration, following their interests, delivering hands on opportunities for learning AND remaining grounded in our curricular goals.

One of the most exciting parts of planning #ChampionsRetreat2026 is collaborating with the larger purpose-driven business community to make it happen. Our sponsors demonstrate why this is such a great opportunity: we have the chance to learn from their practices, their commitment to their values-driven missions, and their ability to drive impact through intentional systems and practices.

Shout out to Tru Earth (@truearthmovement), Beneficial State Bank (@beneficialstate), Big Path Capital (@bigpathcapital), Pariveda Solutions (@pariveda_inc), Booth @insidebooth, Radio Flyer (@radioflyerinc), and Riverwater Partners (@riverwater_partners).

From supporting the creation of engaging breakout rooms and networking opportunities to the inclusion of art and culture throughout the event, they help shape what will make the #ChampionsRetreat2026 experience so special.
We're excited to see what they bring, including the information, stories, and inspiration they offer as leaders in their respective industries and in the B Corp community as a whole!

If there’s one takeaway from last night’s FORUM talk, it’s this: joy is a valid objective — in design and in life.

Joy doesn’t look the same for everyone, but it often shows up in familiar ways: choice, agency, autonomy, and a sense of belonging.

Our panelists shared how they design for joy and dignity across very different spaces — from preschools to high schools to retirement homes.

How do they know a space is working?

People stay. They linger. They feel calm.

(And yes — when teens are discouraged from “loitering,” it’s often a sign the space is doing something right.)

It was a joy to listen, a joy to host, and genuinely energizing to see so many people engaged in this conversation.

Thank you Christine Weber @kasiandesign, Bridgitte Alomes @naturalpod and Diana Studier @iredale_architecture for sharing your work and insight.

A huge thank you to @gabrielrossshop for hosting the talk.

Missed this one? Another Design Victoria FORUM talk is coming up on February 19.

✨ The eve before a new school year ✨

Every corner of this space is filled with intention. From sensory supports to movement opportunities to cozy spots for regulation, we’ve thought carefully about what our learners need most.

Because we know this: before a child can access academics, they first need to feel safe, seen, and supported. 💛

Here’s to another year of growth, connection, and curiosity. 🌿📚
