🚨🥼🧬 Proud to announce that I’m now an ambassador for Nature’s Safe, a living biobank helping to protect threatened species from extinction. They store cells and semen from some of the world’s most threatened species including ones already extinct in the wild. So if a species ever did disappear completely, we could actually have the chance to bring them back. 🐆🌍 And as Sir David Attenborough says: ‘By using current technologies, we have the ability to save any animal or at least save its tissue, until we discover how.’ 🐾🧫🔬 Let’s see where science takes us… 🤝 @natures_safe _____________________________ #naturessafe #biobank #science #wildlife #savingspecies #ambassador #endangeredspecies #animals #cryopreservation

We’re so lucky to be surrounded by such vast nature, and we don’t take that lightly 🌎❤️ That’s why we support @natures_safe, a brilliant charity working to protect endangered species and preserve the natural world. The charity’s mission fits right in with our ethos: protecting and caring for the environment around us. It’s the same approach that earned us the Peak District Environmental Quality Mark. 📸 - @john_finney_photography

Have you ever heard of a wildlife biobank? 🐛 Working between my passions of art and science I get to meet so many interesting people, so when the team from @natures_safe reached out to chat about a collaboration I was so excited to hear about the work they are doing. Nature's Safe is a living biobank doing things a little differently, preserving reproductive cells in a living state, which can be used in the future to increase genetic diversity of wild populations. 🐧 They have preserved over 278 species samples since 2020, and here is just a small selection of the incredible biodiversity they are preserving. 🍃 I created these illustrations to accompany their new digital adoption packs which are now available to supporters, you can find them on their website 🌊 . . . . . #scientificillustrator #scientificillustration #naturalhistoryillustration #inkart #wildlifeart #wildlifeartist #zoology #marinescience

I hope you're having a sealy great weekend 🦭 Meet the South American fur seal, you can spot them on the coasts of Peru, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil and the Falkland Islands 🌏 Their population has almost halved since 1999, to around 219,000 individuals 🌊 The males are much larger than the females, weighing up to three times the size. This is just one of the amazing species that has been biobanked by @natures_safe preserved in 2023. This illustration is now part of their new adoption packs supporting the conservation of more species 💙 Don't forget 6pm tomorrow new original art will be landing at www.rachelbrooksart.com . . . . . #furseal #seal #sealart #scientificillustrator #scientificillustrator #naturalhistoryillustration ##wildlifeart #wildlifeartist #inkart #inkartist #artprocess #wip

The last time I drew the African penguin was in my sketch book in Simonstown, having just spent my 30th birthday watching penguins at Boulders beach! It reminded me of the days I spent watching puffins in Scotland, how easy it is for time to go by whilst watching these charming little birds. And three years later im revisiting the African penguin, Spheniscus demersus. 🐧 Shortly after a huge step forwards in conserving this species by establishing no fishing zones around breeding colonies 🐟🌎 This original artwork will be part of my Easter Sunday collection 🥚 . . . . #africanpenguin #capepenguin #bouldersbeach #simonstown #scientificillustrator #scientificillustration #naturalhistoryillustration #wildlifeart #wildlifeartist #inkart #inkartist
