A SUNDAY SALUTE to Goldie, aka - Gold Faithful, Gold Reliable, Goldie Vahn. She’s not the fastest, newest, or shiniest—but she shows up. Seventeen years old, 300k+ miles deep, and still pulling trailers and hearts down the Baja peninsula. Goldie’s been with us for a dozen years of border and desert crossings, her seats long gone, replaced by moto racks, tool bins, and sleeping bags. She’s a getaway van, a gear vault, a mobile pit stop, a place to crash when there’s no time to set up a tent. Originally designated ‘Chase 2’, the Food & Beverage Cart. From Loreto to La Paz and beyond, she became Chase 1&2, the team's primary rig. Hauling the trailer, tools and team through twisty, narrow, potholed mountain roads like a champ. We didn’t plan it that way. But plans are just possibilities until Baja has her say. What made it work? A rotating cast of good-hearted, get-it-done people: family, friends, neighbors, the drivers, co-drivers, navigators, (whoever wasn't racing that day) and the ones who’ve been there through every late-night repair. She might not get the finish line photos, but Goldie is as much a part of the team as the 1050 car itself. Gracias, Goldie. You’ve earned your tacos, your rest, and an oil change. #ThisIsNotAChaseVan #GoldieDontCare #DIYDesertQueen #PulledMoreThanHerWeight #NoPlanAllPivot #VanlifersCouldNever

At 2am in La Paz, El Mágo worked his welding and fabrication magic on our rear trailing arm—every trick, every angle. Thanks to him, #1050 was on the start line at dawn, ready to finish what we started. This was next-level teamwork and camaraderie—neighbors, friends, family, and many very late nights. Our first NORRA Mexican 1000. The first race with our new-to-us ID Designs Class 10 car. First Class 10 car across the finish line. We’ll be saying thank you to many incredible people in the coming days, but today we are saying gracias, El Mágo. #norra1000 #lapaz #bajacaliforniasur

We raced another 366 miles down the Baja Peninsula today, with a full test of endurance for people, machines, and navigation systems alike. The Chase 1 truck stayed back in Loreto—waiting for a new radiator. Chase 2 (Goldie Vahn) loaded up with gear and pulled the trailer to La Paz, determined and a little overloaded. Somewhere between midnight and midday, our Lowrance navigation system lost its mind trying to process 600+ waypoints. What made sense under the stars unraveled under the desert sun. Luckily, Andres had his hand-annotated roadbook—days of prep paying off with every turn he called. Tom drove the morning’s stages. Alé took the wheel from Las Pocitas to La Paz. And just as #1050 dropped down from the mountains toward the Sea of Cortez, things... went sideways. Literally. The boys are okay. The car—well, we're letting the welders and fabricators work their magic tonight. We’ve fallen back in the standings a bit. But that was never the only point. This race is about grit, improvisation, and the kind of friendships that show up when things fall apart. It’s about believing there’s still a way forward, even when the path gets rough. Day 6 is on the horizon. We’re not done yet.

Day 4 is nearly wrapped up. The 1050 car held it together from San Ignacio to Loreto. 1050 Chase 1 + Trailer? Not so much. We made it to Loreto and went straight to Radiadores de Romero and Ferramar de Loreto. Radiator repair for the chase truck, new leaf springs for the trailer. We're getting a plan together for tomorrow. Day 5 is the longest stage, so fueling strategy is key.

#TrainingTuesday A little bit from our #surfrescue skills practice on Sunday during our last IRAB (Introduction to Basic #AquaticRescue) Workshop of the year, second one at @CostaPalmas. The #AventuraBeachClub personnel had quite an intensive day during this 2-day training designed for those who due to occupational needs may require to perform a #waterrescue without being #lifeguards, #lifesavers, coastguards, rescue swimmers nor rescue divers. As you guessed, the full album is at our FB page. 📹 @NatureXposure 📷 @NatureXposure 📷 @ElRamonDavila #CostaPalmas #Lifeguard #BeachLifeguard #BeachLifeguards #OceanLifeguard #OceanLifeguards #BajaLifeguards #ASDlifeguards #DSAlifeguards #RealLifeguards #GuardavidasDeVerdad #LifeguardsForLife #GuardavidasDePorVida #Lifeguarding #Lifesaving #Salvamento #OceanRescue #LaRibera #LosCabos #BajaCaliforniaSur

#orcas #tortugas #bajastyle #laventana #elsargento #losplanes #laventanalocalkite #consumelocal
