🪶Meet Krislyn!🪶

We’re excited to have Krislyn on our team and can’t wait for you all to connect with her throughout the year!

Here’s what Krislyn has to say:

“I am incredibly honored to serve as one of your Honors Indigenous Peer Mentor for the 2026–2027 school year! Through this role, I hope to create a welcoming and supportive space for Indigenous students within the Honors College. I want to help students feel connected, supported, and confident as they navigate their college journey. As an Indigenous student myself, I understand how meaningful it can be to have a community that reminds you that you belong. I hope to be someone that students can come to for advice, encouragement, or simply a familiar face. I’m looking forward to building relationships, creating meaningful experiences, and growing alongside our Indigenous Honors community. Outside of academics, I enjoy running, drawing, and listening to music. I can’t wait to meet you all, hear your stories, and make this a great year together. I look forward to connecting with everyone!”

🪶Meet Noa!🪶

We’re excited to have Noa on our team and can’t wait for you all to connect with him throughout the year!

Here’s what Noa has to say:

“Hello, I’m Noa Masayesva. I’m a 2nd-year physics student, born and raised here in Flagstaff🌲🏔️. I love to watch football, and I’m a 49ers fan (we’re winning the bowl this year). I like listening to music and going on walks; my favorite genre is probably metal, but I also like a lot of other genres. I hope to help guide my Native American community in college, support them however I can, and show representation on campus.”

🪶Meet Sean! 🪶

We’re excited to have Sean apart our team and can’t for you all to connect with him throughout the school year!”

Here’s what Sean has to say:

“I am incredibly excited to serve as your Honors Indigenous Peer Mentor for the 2026-2027 school year.
Through this role, I hope to further develop my leadership skills while directly supporting both incoming and current Indigenous students within the Honors College. Navigating college can be challenging, and I want to offer that helping hand we all need at times. My goal is to be a reliable listener, someone you can easily talk to, and a mentor who helps build a close-knit, supportive community. I hope everyone joins us at our upcoming events to share their stories so we can grow stronger together. I look forward to connecting with all of you!”

FIELD NOTES: GLOBAL CITIZENS IN MOTION 🌍✨🇮🇹

FIELD NOTES CATCH-UP 💛
Days 4–6 | Tradition, Ecology & Reflection

The past few days have been full in all the best ways, and our Global Citizens Project Scholars have continued stepping into exactly the kind of immersive, community-based learning this partnership was designed to foster 🌍✨

🍞 DAY 4: TRADITION MEETS INNOVATION

Back at the school in Colli a Volturno, students experienced something many global learning programs rarely make visible: the complexity of real community life.

The day moved from bread-making 🍞 to 3D printing 💻 to music and shared meals 🎶🍽️

That juxtaposition matters.

Communities are vibrant, living ecosystems.

Creative.
Adaptive.
Rooted in tradition while continuously evolving.

🐻 DAY 5: ECOLOGY & BELONGING

In Pettorano sul Gizio, the scholars spent time with the incredible team at @rewildingapennines learning about biodiversity, ecological restoration, and the critically endangered Marsican brown bear 🌿🐻

Conversations expanded beyond culture and community into stewardship, systems, and shared responsibility.

Later, back in Colli, a traditional card tournament with local elders at Il Dollaro reminded us that some of the most meaningful intercultural moments happen in ordinary social spaces 🃏🤍

Dinner that evening at Pizzeria La Canonica was the perfect close 🍕✨

🌊 DAY 6: LEAVING A TRACE, RECEIVING ONE

The scholars’ final full day in Molise brought reflection, beauty, and celebration.

From the Volturno River Springs to the Abbey of San Vincenzo al Volturno ⛪🌿 to a hands-on cheesemaking experience and lunch at @agriturismo_costantini 🧀🤲, the day held so many of the values this partnership is built on: place-based learning, shared experience, and meaningful connection.

An afternoon at the lake offered space to breathe before farewell dinner at Ristorante La Falconara 🍽️💛

And what a week it had been.

Today, the scholars are exploring Rome 🏛️✨

Tomorrow, we’ll share Field Notes from their final adventures in the Eternal City before the journey home 🤍🇮🇹

FIELD NOTES: GLOBAL CITIZENS IN MOTION 🌍✨🇮🇹

Day 2: Entering Relationship ⛰️🤍🍝

This morning began in Naples.

Coffee. Breakfast. Reflection. One last inhale of city energy ☕✨

Then the road began to wind.

North into the mountains.

Past stone villages.

Through landscapes that ask you to slow down and notice 🌿🚐

By early afternoon, our Northern Arizona University Honors College cohort arrived in Colli a Volturno—a small hilltop community in the heart of Molise that will hold this chapter of their journey ⛰️💛

After lunch at @LaSosta, the group set out on foot through the village, beginning the slow and meaningful work of place-based learning.

Not through a lecture hall.

Through streets.

Stories.

Architecture.

Introductions.

Curiosity.

Later, inside a historic farmhouse at the foot of the Mainarde mountains, hands met flour and tradition 🍝🤲✨

Students learned to make fresh pasta together at Casale Rurale Verde Collese, laughing, experimenting, and stepping into one of the most beloved rhythms of Italian life through participation.
And then the evening.

A warm welcome from local residents.

A shared meal.

The presentation of the project.

The first real sense that this experience belongs to everyone gathered around the table 🤝💛

This is what makes partnerships like this with Northern Arizona University so meaningful.

Global learning becomes something tangible when communities are co-collaborators in the experience itself 🌍✨

Tonight’s dinner included the pasta students made with their own hands.

Tomorrow brings local students, movement, creativity, and intergenerational exchange 🧶⚽🤍
