For a long time, I felt numb.

Not because I didn’t have dreams.
Not because I wasn’t working.
Not because I didn’t care.

I felt numb because I didn’t fully understand my purpose.

I spent years chasing opportunities, building businesses and trying to make sense of why certain doors wouldn’t open. The harder I pushed, the more frustrated I became. Then one day, I stopped talking long enough to listen.

And when I listened, God reminded me that purpose isn’t always found in what you’re building. Sometimes it’s found in who you’re building it for.

That’s what Fish & Friends Fest became for me.

What started as a fried seafood festival for the soufside became a mission to support an entire hospitality ecosystem. Restaurants, chefs, food trucks, bartenders, servers, promoters, event staff, and small business owners are some of the hardest-working people in our communities, yet they’re often overlooked when resources, funding, and opportunities are distributed.

Too many hospitality businesses face discrimination, monopolies, unfair barriers to entry, and are labeled as a “high-risk industry” before they’re even given a chance. The people feeding our communities, creating jobs, and bringing people together deserve more support, more collaboration, and more opportunities to grow.

That’s why we’re building an ecosystem, not just an event.

An ecosystem where businesses become friends, resources are shared, opportunities are created, and communities are strengthened together.

If you’ve been feeling lost, discouraged, or wondering if your work matters, keep going. Your purpose may be closer than you think. Sometimes God is just waiting for you to slow down long enough to hear Him.

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
2 Timothy 1:7

Don’t give up.
