Women Who Influence. Women Who Lead. Women Who Open Doors! 💗🍎

Spent a wonderful afternoon this week at the annual Pink Apple Awards at Brooklyn Borough Hall! Proud to attend alongside NAWBO NYC NAWBO NYC President Neena Dutta, Cansu Acik Vice President of Events and Jaclyn Tacoronte representing our chapter as Vice President of Advocacy. It was a pleasure connecting with incredible leaders and panelists, including Delia A. Awusi, NYC’s Mom-and-Pop Czar with Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani office, and Kitty Chan, Deputy Commissioner at NYC Department of Small Business Services NYC Small Business Services. This year’s conversation, “The Power Seat: How Small Businesses Are Moving New York Forward,” highlighted the importance of empowering women entrepreneurs and strengthening our small business community.

Advocacy is about more than having a seat at the table. It’s about ensuring women business owners have access to capital, contracts, resources, mentorship, and a voice in the policies that shape our future. When government, business leaders, and organizations like NAWBO work together, we turn conversations into action. Because when women-owned businesses thrive, our communities thrive.

“We are not powerless. We are POWERFUL!” 🔥
— In the Heights

Hochul came through with the HOOKS! 💙🔥

The energy in the room at Latinos for Hochul-Adams was absolutely infectious!

It was an honor to attend alongside NAWBO NYC Chapter President Neena Dutta, representing the National Association of Women Business Owners NYC Chapter as Vice President of Advocacy, in support of Governor Kathy Hochul and her running mate, Adrienne Adams.

But this evening was especially meaningful to me because my journey into politics began with someone telling me NO.

In 2019, I worked alongside the New York City Council to advocate for Intro 1293, legislation that expanded opportunities for Native American and Asian American business owners within New York City’s Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (M/WBE) program.

And here’s where things come full circle.

Adrienne Adams was one of the co-sponsors of that very legislation!

Years ago, we were fighting to ensure that communities too often overlooked had access to opportunities. Today, seeing Adrienne Adams on the roster as a candidate for Lieutenant Governor reminds me how the work we do at the local level can help shape the future of leadership.

As a Native American, Mexican American mother and business owner, I know firsthand that representation is about more than being seen. It’s about changing policies, opening doors, and making sure the next generation doesn’t have to fight the same battles.

And what started it all? Someone telling me NO.

But here’s the thing…

You can’t tell a Texas girl NO and expect her to walk away!

Especially one with big Texas dreams, a little New York grit, and a whole lot of faith!

Sometimes that NO is exactly what you need to hear to get 'er DONE.

The room was on FIRE, the energy was infectious, and I was reminded why I continue to show up.

Because when women, communities, and leaders come together, powerful things happen.

We are not powerless. WE ARE POWERFUL!

I just recorded an episode of Expertise Made Real with Kristin N. Spencer, and we got into everything pitching. Kristin asked me to be part of her launch day lineup, and baby, that is a real honor. Every episode brings a different expert from a totally different world to talk about what real expertise actually looks like. No matter the industry, most people cannot see their own expertise until somebody else names it. Every single post you make on social
media is a pitch, whether you meant it to be or not, so let's make sure yours is a killer one.

Go listen to the new episode now. You can find it on Apple Podcasts at

"Would you believe I almost gave up on my business dreams?"

Precious Williams is the founder and CEO of The Perfect Pitch Group and a member of NAWBO NYC.

She teaches women how to pitch: elevator, media, investor, sales, speaker, interview.

From the outside, you'd assume she had it all figured out.

She didn't. And she says almost walking away happens to women business owners every single day.

What kept her in the game was NAWBO.

It started with the AARP Power of the Dream scholarship.

Then she went through the program. Then she helped improve it. Then she was teaching in it and we got to see her skill set in action.

In 2024, she was named one of the top three Women Business Owners of the Year.

Her words: "Now I'm on the map. The global map."

That's what happens when a community sees you before you've figured it all out. Not after.

If you've been quietly wondering whether you can keep going, you don't have to wonder alone.

🎙️ 𝐈’𝐦 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐤𝐞𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞, 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. This evening … preparing. Getting ready for speaker-dinner. Doing the rounds of my classroom and checking out the speaking space.

🪷 As I stand on this international stage, I find myself thinking of my father. While many children around me were being told what they should become, he introduced me to books, poetry, and the power of curiosity.

He taught me that being a good human being matters more than perfect grades. That self-care is a life skill, not a luxury. That education creates freedom. That community and friendship are worth investing in. And that having a voice means using it for those who don’t always feel seen.

He taught me to laugh often, stay curious, be of service, and never lose myself while caring for others.

🫂 Happy Father’s Day, Papa. Wherever you are, know that I miss you every day. You wanted me to help normalize conversations around grief, and here I am—halfway across the world, giving a keynote on 𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐟.

Some of the people we lose continue shaping our lives long after they’re gone.❤️

Four weeks ago, we made history. 💫

The 2026 Gold Women’s Health & Business Awards Gala brought together an extraordinary community of leaders, entrepreneurs, advocates, visionaries, and changemakers for a night dedicated to celebrating women who are making a meaningful impact in the world.

Four weeks later, the inspiration continues. The stories shared, the relationships formed, and the achievements honored that night are still shining brightly throughout our community.

As we reflect on the magic of this year's Gala, we are already looking ahead to an even bigger celebration in 2027.
