Today marks 3 years in LA, and one year of full-time entrepreneurship 🤯 neither of the two are for the weak. This past year has been the hardest one yet. So I want to get vulnerable for a second. LA has been far from what I’d expected, but exceeded all my expectations at the same time. As someone who is inherently hard on myself, I find myself constantly feeling like I’m not doing enough but moving forward I want to slow down and prioritize celebrating the wins. Self doubt and imposter syndrome tried to win more times than I can count. But when I sit and reflect on the year I’ve had, I’m in awe. Sometimes it feels like life is moving too fast and when we’re hyper focused on what’s next we lose track of all the things great things that are happening in the moment.

This journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been so rewarding. If you’re contemplating betting on yourself, go do that shit. Life is HARD and life is SHORT, make the most of every moment and love on who loves you. I’m grateful for my family, friends and community that have been there for me through the highs and lows. Cheers to whatever God has in store for the future 🙏🏾❤️✨

& remember - this too shall pass! Stay risky ✳️

Best frennnnn ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹 you left & took some of my heart with you. Idk if I’m more sad from looking back at all the memories we shared or the ones we had planned. I’m so grateful to have experienced a friend like you!! You gave me the best advice & kept it real no matter what. You made me laugh until I had tears running down my face. From playing against each other in high school, playing on the same club team then going to Howard together. We made so many memories. I had soooo much fun with you 😭😭🩷 You was really my mf dawg!!!!! I wouldn’t have chose anyone else to do this life shit with. You taught me so many things!!! I remember when you walked in front the White House in a swimsuit for a modeling audition & I was like bruhhhhh you crazyyyy!!! But nah you really lived what you preached. Risky & unapologetically you. You helped me become the person I am today. From designing clothes, styling, rapping, modeling… You was really HER & you still are. I love you so much sis!!! Ima do this shit for you Janaya I swear. I got us. Forever taking risks, forever not giving af! Until we meet again sister 😢💕

One of the most unfair parts of grief is that it’s always there and it will sneak up on you , like reaching for your phone to send a text, and then remembering they’re no longer here. or wanting to say i love you and knowing you won’t hear it back. That moment never gets easier and it’s hurts everytime. It’s just something you slowly learn to live with. On the flip side, there’s more appreciation for the moments God did allow us to share. I’ve been struggling to find the right words. so hurt. So sad. angry. but also So thankful.. Janaya Hampton = one of a kind. Sis was a DJ, designer, rapper, accountability partner, hair inspo, athlete, prayer warrior …the list goes on. She literally designed the logo for my show when it was still just a small dream.
There are people you meet in life who just are it. confidence & light. That was Janaya. I remember being in awe of her even before we were line sisters.
She was just soooooo cool. So her. so risky.
when we became sisters it was special. She always stayed calm and coooool, even in chaos. The world could be on fire and Janaya would have a resolution. our friendship was intentional, with God at the center. flowers were always given and received. I still remember the night before you moved to LA you picked me up from the NOLA airport as I wanted po’boys and to go to Beyoncé’s fav spots as well as visit the city like a local lmao. that was one of my favorite nights because you didn’t have to do that… but that’s who you are. we went home and talked about what we wanted to become.
Janaya could do it all. My God, as I write this I’m realizing just how much you did in 30 years… and that’s just from my point of view. reading your tributes,I’m like did we have the same 24 hours?
Janaya, you touched and continue to touch so many lives and stayed rooted in God through it all. I miss you so much. I love you even more. Thank you for being a friend, and an even better sister. You were unreal. But I’m so grateful I got to know you.
an angel on earth—and now you’ve gained your wings.
