I ain't un-evolved, I'm uninvolved
Unless you need someone to run a boat
Everywhere I walks now a slippy surface
Ralphy slipper surfing while the whips reversing... 💡😎⛸️

Emma-Jean Thackray – “Yellow” (Movementt, 2021)

Um, wow. This is a timeless treasure I’m so glad to have discovered because Gilles Peterson called it his favorite of album the year: “Watching and listening to Emma-Jean over the years has been so exciting….Her early recordings with Walrus in 2016 stopped me in my tracks…. the first show I caught at St Luke’s church in 2018 was a reimagined performance of @tomskinnermusic ‘watermelon Sun’ with members of @londonsymphonyorchestra and Tom Skinner himself…. It was such a brilliant and off centre choice celebrating the UK scene, In fact it’s still the only time that project was heard live!!!…. She went on to Dj that night and opened with ‘Transcend Me’ by @afr0gram …. a big clue of where her music was heading…. Somewhere between Bruk, Free and Cosmic soul!” Cover artwork is the creation of Nazusk, artist, rapsrayer, designer and photographer residing in Sheffield, UK.

Thanks to @phlegm_art for the book! I totally missed out on these and was gutted. He had kept one or two behind and really greatful for him to send me a copy. I first met him on 'work experience' at college, haha well if you can call it that. Everyone in my Graphics class went to designers and art places but I asked Phlegm directly to help him out! Luckily he said yes and i met up with him on sharrow-vale and helped him mulsh his piece next to the pet shop, you all know that mural. I have been in contact ever since and he gave me paint, taught me respect and has always messaged me back when i sent a message. Unfortunately I missed this show, lines were too long, lockdown had started and anxiety got the better. This book is great and so glad i have a glimpse into the atmosphere, creation and inspiration to the installation.
