🎨 CREATE, UNWIND & SOCIALISE — RELIEF PRINTMAKING

From drawing from life to a tiled composition, all in one evening!

We started by observing and drawing from life, then transferred our designs onto linofoam to create our own printing stamps. Next came the inking, printing and the magic of the mirror image… before repeating the process to build a final composition of interlocking prints. ✨

A little bit of drawing, a little bit of experimentation, and the lovely surprise of seeing how individual prints come together to create something new.

And of course, what’s an evening of creativity without a few treats? This time, we enjoyed homemade cheese puffs (gougères au fromage) with a glass of white wine. 🥂

A relaxed, friendly evening to try something new, get absorbed in making, and enjoy good company.

Come and join us for a future Art Evening at #63! Small groups, all materials included, and always something delicious to nibble on.

This year has been one of navigation — across landscapes, ideas, and new scales of making.
From studio work to working larger and more experimentally, each project has pushed me to rethink direction, form, and rhythm.
Grateful for the movement, the challenges, and the inspiration gathered along the way.

Wishing you all a year filled with curiosity and bold exploration ✨

A 130 kms trek start with a single step!!
What an epic 8 days with incredible weather, a stunning variety of landscapes and great people from all over the world met along the way.
I am not going to lie, the heavy packs were really trying at first but by the 3rd day, we started to get used to them. A definite highlight of our Cape to Cape adventure!

Change of gears: from chill Brazilian beaches to serene and picturesque Chiloé, Chile, we are now in Puerto Natales on the eve of The Big Patagonian Trek, an adventure that has been obsessing @nbidon for years!
As you can see, the temperature has seriously dropped, the wind is gusty and we are finally wearing our ski jackets and layers that have been sitting at the bottom of our packs.
Tomorrow early am, we are setting off to the infamous 70miles, O Circuit around Torres del Paine that will take us 8 days (5 nights camping 😱 and 2 nights in refuges).
Hopefully the weather gods will be merciful!!
🤞🤞

Still in Awe.

The landscapes of Namibia keep revealing themselves — vast, sculptural, and humbling. This is Spitzkoppe, where we camped for two nights after a brief return to comfort in Swakopmund.
As nice as it was to have a real bed, cool air, and good Wi-Fi again, nothing compares to the quiet magic of the desert. The silence feels alive here. The rocks, monumental yet tender, seem to breathe — their soft curves, folds, and openings echoing the body, the animal, the vegetal.
Thinking of Georgia O’keefe’s mountains and Niki de St Phalle’s Tarot garden and feeling so inspired…

I can’t believe a week ago, we landed in Windhoek via Cape Town. It feels like we have been in Namibia for so much longer! we have covered some territory (went over 1000 kms so far) and the diversity of landscapes has been amazing, taking us so far away from the familiar and the everyday. I always forget how great traveling is: how you are suddenly able to gain perspective and start looking at the world, life differently. So grateful to be on this Cape to Cape Adventure!

On my way to South Africa and then South America, on a 2 month journey from Cape to Cape with fellow globe trotter and travel agent Extraordinaire @nbidon ❤️
Often dwelling in imagined landscapes, I am now about to get steeped in completely new horizons. Let’s see what will get absorbed and what will emerge… 🌿🌞🗻🌊

The month of August is now behind us and the magic days in Le Marche already seem like a faraway dream…
As we enter the month of September and get ready for our next Exciting Adventure, a part of me still wants to be in that golden landscape, staring at the wall while listening to the peaceful chirping of the crickets 🦗🦗🦗

13 unforgettable days in Colognola, where this mural came to life with the brilliant support of my excellent assistant @nbidon. Huge thanks to @flotripolino and @gaomingbo for their vision and for trusting me with this project. The whole process was both challenging and truly enjoyable. 🎨✨

And a special shout-out to @sintatantra, @patrickvaleartist, @monicaperezvega and @ellietateart — your shared experience and tips were invaluable along the way! 🙏✨✨

And with that, the 2024 season comes to an end…

What a year, friends! Not without challenges or ups and downs but so many opportunities and joy embraced!

Taking the time today to reflect and think about what I want to manifest for 2025. Where will the next year find us? What travels? What adventures? What knits?! 😂

Wishing you all great things, good health and much happiness for the New Year.

Love,
Al

On this grey winter day, revisiting photos and sketchbook from our recent escapade in Cairo. Still overwhelmed by the serene majesty of the Pyramids, the madness of traffic, the overcrowded and twinkling bazaar and the incredible urban density. That short glimpse definitely made me want to come back and explore further. 🌞🌞
