Sometimes, what feels like family loyalty to one person can feel like a lack of boundaries to another.

What feels like care to one can feel like control to another.

An interracial relationship isn’t about pretending those differences don’t exist. It’s about creating enough trust, compassion, and curiosity to understand each other’s experiences without making one person wrong.

You don’t have to become the same to build a life together. You need trust, compassion, and a willingness to understand each other.

Hii Again!! As you know I’m Alivia Chasten, a summer intern with Cooperative Extension, and last week was my third week there! So here’s a recap of that through a quick daily fit check as I took on the days.

Last Week’s theme was to highlight a year-round resource in our county, so I chose farm visits! Farm visits are requestable evaluations done by specialized agents to help farmers with issues in operations and to connect them with the right resources. This being my favorite because I was able to learn the most during these experiences.

Now, I also wanted to use this post as a little goodbye to Cooperative Extension. Likewise, the videos in the beginning are some of the many great things I participated in through this internship. I just want to say that I’m very grateful for everything I learned, the people I met, and for this opportunity. Thank you, Cooperative Extension for everything, I had so much fun and I will see y’all in the fall!

Hello everyone! I cannot believe it, but this week is my last week of my internship with Cooperative Extension. I have thoroughly enjoyed my summer, and I am so grateful. Through this internship, I have learned so much about the various community resources that Cooperative Extension offers. I have been immersed in community outreach in Durham County, and I am so thankful for this opportunity!

This week is also the week of the Durham 4-H Farm to Fork Summer Camp. In this camp, 13-18 year olds visit local farms to learn about agriculture, and they cook in the afternoons with produce and meat they have gathered. I have been taking pictures and participating alongside the children this week, and it has been such a wonderful week to wrap up my internship! Overall, this summer has been an amazing experience, and I will take everything I have learned with me!
