Day One at the Ron Clark Academy!

After a full day of travel yesterday, ECU and NC State Teaching Fellows began their experience at RCA today. Students were welcomed by RCA students and staff before observing classrooms and participating in professional development sessions with RCA educators, including Mr. Clark, Mr. Collins and Mr. Bonner.

The group ended day one by becoming officially slide certified, an RCA tradition!

ECU Teaching Fellow and COE Truist Leadership Team member Hope D. took over the ECU College of Education Instagram to share a look at the day’s experiences.

We are extremely grateful to the James and Connie Maynard family, NC Teaching Fellows and ECU’s College of Education for opportunities that allow our future educators to learn, collaborate and connect with fellow educators and other NC Teaching Fellows.

Meet Lindsey Cliser, a North Carolina Teaching Fellow at @NCState! ❤️🐺

For Lindsey, teaching is more than a career. It’s a commitment to service, growth, and making a lasting impact on students.

As a first-year education student at NC State, Lindsey is already finding encouragement and purpose through the Teaching Fellows community. Being surrounded by other future educators who share the same passion for teaching and service has helped strengthen her confidence as she takes her first steps into the profession.

She says, “Being a North Carolina Teaching Fellow means having the opportunity and responsibility to grow into a teacher who leads with compassion, commitment, and integrity.”

For Brena, teaching is a calling. From teaching neighborhood kids and stuffed animals after school to crafting learning objectives as a North Carolina Teaching Fellow at @NCState, every step of her journey has brought her closer to her own classroom.

That journey doesn’t stop at graduation. Through individualized coaching and ongoing professional development, the NC Teaching Fellows program helps Fellows grow and thrive throughout their teaching careers.

If teaching has always been on your mind, your path could start here.

Tag someone who would make a great teacher. ❤️

This Monday, I had the honor of serving as the panel facilitator at the College of Education Teaching Fellows and Transformational Educators Round Table and Guest Panel. It was such an inspiring experience being able to network, connect, and listen to so many passionate educators share their journeys and insights about teaching. Feeling so grateful for the opportunity to learn from them and be part of such a meaningful conversation!

What a fun filled night at the NCSU College of Education’s High Impact Expo! Tonight, I was able to represent our Transformational Scholars Program along with seeing our SAY Village and Teaching Fellows community! I met some our supporters, sponsors, and even new potential CED students. I even got to share about the community that made me want to become an educator and shaped me into who I am today. What an honor it is to work aside these amazing people ❤️

I had the wonderful privilege last week to attend the Ron Clark Academy expo with my sister and several friends & colleagues within the CED, SAY Village, and TF! I learned so many transformational practices that I will implement into my classroom.

@ncsu_transformational_scholars, @ncstateteachingfellows, and @say_village just hosted our second (maybe annual 👀) Dining with Democracy! We gathered education students to learn and practice discussion strategies they can apply in their future classrooms, while simultaneously using those discussion strategies to talk about issues facing contemporary education. We witnessed rousing student discussion, and hope everyone was able to step away having learned something and feel more confident in their democratic deliberation abilities!

Thank you to Dr. Paula McAvoy, Dr. Christy Byrd, and doctoral candidate Rachel Waltz for facilitating such a wonderful evening!

That’s another successful Ron Clark Academy trip for the books!

@ncstateteachingfellows and @say_village students spent the latter half of the week in Atlanta learning about best teaching practices and the magic of the @ronclarkacademy. From mingling with the RCA students to chatting with their staff, we stepped away even more inspired and invigorated for education!
