Upon returning home from speaking at the @nawbo_gr Luncheon at @ncsuclub , I walked past my packed up lunch sitting on the counter. It caught my attention and I had a flashback to the young #ncsu kid who dropped courses if speaking or presenting was on the syllabus. I remember telling myself back then that I would NEVER speak in public... WOW! #lookatmenow #publicspeaker #facilitator #presenter Thank you @kagailes for the opportunity and for pouring so much into that kid over the years!

On tour with Ann in 2024, we got a tour before our talk of the almost 2 million books preserved and housed in this incredible research library, the James B. Hunt at NC State University. But we also had to check out the reading area. @northcarolina_stateuniversity #annpatchett #annpatchettauthor

What no one anticipates ↓ I moved to Raleigh 21 years ago with a baby and 7-10 year plan. I NEVER thought I’d settle down here. But we made a few great friends, fell in love with our church and community, had two more babies here… and the rest is history. If you’re considering a move to Raleigh (or within), here are some things that shock most people: 01. The pollen. You will need wipers for the yellow dust on your windshield and a Costco supply of Zyrtec. BUT you get paid back with an early spring that brings hyacinth, and daffodils that bloom in February. And winter lasts about 4 days. 02. Your Commute. It just got shorter, your weekends got calmer, and somehow...you’re actually 01. The pollen. You will need wipers for the yellow dust on your windshield and a Costco supply of Zyrtec. BUT you get paid back with an early spring that brings hyacinth, and daffodils that bloom in February. And winter lasts about 4 days. 02. Your Commute. It just got shorter, your weekends got calmer, and somehow...you’re actually enjoying it. This one is going to get a lot of pushback because we do have a rush hour now but it’s like a 30 minute window rather than an all day affair. 03. The job market. Tech, healthcare, Pharma, Startups—you’ll meet people who moved here for work and stayed for everything else. Whether it’s driving 90 minutes to play Pinehurst #2 or heading to the coast for the weekend, we have time to build a career and have hobbies. 04. The college sports intensity. Pick a team or prepare for awkward silences at dinner parties. Everyone knows about the Duke Carolina rivalry but don’t under estimate the lack of love between The Wolfpack and The Tar Heels. 05. How fast big-city FOMO fades when you’re sipping cocktails on your porch, surrounded by tall trees and quiet neighbors. Raleigh isn’t just a sleepy Southern capital. It’s the kind of place that calls you home—and makes you want to stay awhile. f you live in Raleigh, what would you add to the list? Looking to move to Raleigh or within town? Comment Local919 and I’ll send my Raleigh Local’s Guide to your DMs. — Melanie Jones, a Raleigh real estate agent If you live in Raleigh, what would you add?

In collaboration with Raleigh Parks and Recreation staff, Chief Patterson of the Raleigh Police Department and Lieutenant Little of the Youth and Family Services Unit attended an NCSU women’s basketball game alongside RPD mentors and 25 youths as part of a mentorship program. Encouraging our next generation to strive for excellence and success is a huge part of our mission 💙 and we absolutely love supporting our officers to help future leaders in our community! #rpdstrong #ncsu #raleighpolice #raleighpolicedepartment #raleighcommunity
