Pistol Squats: Not as Scary as They Look 🦵✨

I know pistol squats look like some impossible circus trick… but trust me, they’re way less intimidating than they seem! The key is breaking them down into small, doable steps. Start with assisted versions and use a chair, a pole, or even a TRX band for support. Work on single-leg strength with box step-downs or Bulgarian split squats, and gradually increase your range of motion. Flexibility in the ankles and hips helps a ton, too.

Here’s why pistol squats are worth adding to your routine:

* Strength & Stability: They work quads, hamstrings, glutes, and especially calves while demanding balance and core engagement to control the movement.

* Mobility & Coordination: Because of the deep squat and single-leg focus, they improve joint mobility and proprioception (your sense of body position).

* Functional Power: Research shows that single-leg exercises mimic real-life movements better than bilateral ones, helping prevent injury and boosting athletic performance.

So start small, stay consistent, and don’t be afraid to wobble a bit. Every rep is progress! ✨🤡🤸🏻‍♀️
