40 YEARS OF BARBARA BATES 💜✨

Last night, the Obama Presidential Center became a gathering place for Chicago fashion, creativity, and community as Barbara Bates celebrated 40 years of design.

From the VIP reception to the runway, the room reflected the relationships she has built across generations. A striking “40” photo collage traced her journey, while more than 60 models brought her eclectic designs to life. One unforgettable look: a white statement coat featuring geometric designs.

The celebration also honored her philanthropy and commitment to breast cancer awareness in Black and Brown communities. Seeing guests wearing Barbara’s designs from her 2019 showcase made the evening even more meaningful—her work continues to be worn, loved, and celebrated.

Black Fashion Week USA was honored to document this monumental showcase and preserve a piece of Barbara Bates’ legacy.

The rain and tornadoes stopped long enough for an intimate group of educators to gather in the beautiful courtyard of the historic Marshall Fields Mansion. We had the opportunity to meet, greet, and converse with the next President of the CPS Board of Education, @victorforthefuture He said “this is my season with the conglomerate of experiences that I have.” Victor P. Henderson is an accomplished attorney and Certified Public Accountant…..those expertise are critical with the $10 Billion deficit that CPS is currently facing. Regardless of the financial fiasco, “we must educate or incarcerate.” With all of that said and the proven track record of WINNING, I’m claiming this victory for Victor in advance for CPS‼️‼️‼️💯Much love and appreciation to @ndigobyhermene & Dr. Wayne Watson for hosting 💕🩷👏🏽🙌🏽 Get to the polls on Election Day, November 3rd‼️
