Last year, The Washington Home committed a $1.5M investment to support the Food and Friends’ vision for expansion and it is so inspiring to see the team in action and the high quality, and nutritious meals that are nurturing our community.

🌟Supporting Community Connection - a great time was had by all at our partner Genevieve N. Johnson Senior Day Care Center's Annual Community Wellness Fair, Bazaar & Fish Fry in Ward 4, featuring 60+ vendors and free wellness resources.

Having access to community based events and health screening opportunities supports older adults as they age in place and stay connected.

Older adults from Forest Hills of DC, @iona.senior Services, Colony House, Lamond, Ft. Stevens, Kingdom Care Senior Village, @seaburyresources for Aging, @vidaseniorcenters , and GNJ all joined in on the fun.

GNJ is a valuable community partner providing rehabilitative, social and recreational activities and services for older adults to help maintain a high quality of life, and it supports families and caregivers with essential assistance caring for their loved ones.

🌺 A lovely afternoon visiting our partners at @jubileehousing - one of the organizations in our new collaborative grant for Ward 1 - the Connected Care & Aging Network (C-CAN).

The grant supports our mission by providing options for older adults to age in place by connecting older-adult affordable housing with community-based programming.

Jubilee Housing offers individualized service coordination, health and wellness supports, food access, transportation, digital literacy, and community programming through strong local partnerships to help older adults age in place and reduce social isolation. ☕

🎨 @storytapestriesengage is also part of the collaboration and will deliver four culturally responsive, art-based workshops at Jubilee Housing to support memory, mental health, and social connection among older adults in permanent supportive housing.
