Moonflower is officially yours ❤️

I wanted to write an original song that captured that same intoxicating feeling of “Sway” by Dean Martin; the romance, rhythm and irresistible pull of dancing with someone you love ❤️

When I first heard the horns on this song, I was truly speechless. @blowuphorns did the most incredible job bringing this to life, I couldn’t even believe it was my own song 🥹❤️ The trombone solo by @nebyoha has quickly become one of my favourite moments on the entire project ✨

Thank you to everyone who worked on this, I couldn’t have done it without you: @coachpoppavic @jonnytobinmusic @steve_in_the_mix @arthurdelahooke @bellafedrigo28 @johnnicholsonsaxophone @thehabeshaman @railtownmastering @nebyoha @coltenjw @taine.pics 🥹🫶🏼

Ethiopian & Eritrean music fuses with western Jazz in a funky, upbeat evening of diverse melodies and rhythms. Co-led by Feven Kidane (trumpet) & Nebyu Yohannes (trombone) and featuring Haleluya Hailu (vocals), the Beles Band hits the stage fresh off a sold out performance at the Fox Cabaret.

The high-flying concert will also feature Seattle-based rapper Gabriel Teodros with a special performance featuring original Ethiopian Jazz cuts.

"Global sounds" encompass a lot of different styles, but what today's featured artists have in common is a fun and funky approach.

October 16, Beles Band plays Ethio-Jazz at @rickshawtheatre Ethiopian & Eritrean music fuses with western Jazz in a funky, upbeat evening of diverse melodies and rhythms.

October 14 at @theamericanvancouver, the double bill of German-based, Turkish inflected psych band Derya Yildirim and Grup Şimșek plus Indonesian groove merchants Thee Marloes guarantees a good time.

Back at the American October 17, Vancouver's most authentic Cuban band, the Julio Avila Cuban Band, will have you dancing to the traditional music of Cuba.

Dos Santos promises to be the sleeper hit of the festival. Based in Chicago, their music ncestral rhythms from deep across the Americas, with glimpses of barrio cumbias, psychedelic westerns, and moonlit desert serenades. At the American October 18 with Los Duendes.

Coco Jafro are well-known to Vancouver audiences for their blend of North African traditional trance, Afro-Latin funk fused with throwback 60's rhythms. They're at @guiltandco October 24.

Los Duendes (with Dos Santos) are Vancouver's own Latin psych band. Let the rhythm transport you at this very cool double bill at the American, October 18.

October 25 at Guilt, Brejera is serving up styles of traditional samba, baião, frevo and choro for spontaneous and authentic Brazilian music.

For my people in Vancouver, BC… I’m playing a special set at @rickshawtheatre one week from today! I’m performing nothing but music inspired by the Ethiopian classics we grew up on… from the Ethiopium mixtape to unreleased music you’ll hear at the show for the first time and everything in between. In support of my family @thehabeshaman, @nebyoha and @haleluyahailu’s Beles Band. Shoutout to @theinfidelsjazz. Tickets still available, link in bio 🎶
