Oda a las Tres Caras, Una Tierra

Let me tell you about the earth,
how she is round like a fist
that never learned to close,
how she carries us child, woman, elder
stacked like a small country
built out of one clay spine.

I have seen her cry.
Not the way rivers cry, running away from themselves,
but the way a mother cries,
still standing,
still holding the plate out for everyone else’s hunger.

Her rim is written in spirals
this is how she remembers:
not in lines that go forward and forget,
but in circles that come back
to touch what they already know.

The fish arrive at her edge with their mouths open.
The birds arrive the same way.
Everything that is hungry
comes to the earth
and the earth,
cracked and glazed and fired by hands that loved her,
says yes, yes, come closer,
I was made for this.

And above her, the three faces sleep standing up,
dreaming the one dream
that to be carried
and to carry
are the same prayer
said in different mouths.

I am the fourth face.
I am not in the clay,
but I am the reason the potter
pressed her thumbs in exactly here,
and here,
and here
so that the earth would have somewhere soft
to keep crying
without breaking.

Merry Christmas 🎄

The kiln glowed bright for six long months,
My hands shaped clay into love’s true form,
Each plate, each pot, a story spun,
A gift to keep my family warm.

The clay would sing,
Each curve and line spoke of my care,
And as the fire embraced each thing,
My heart was molded into the ware.

Five sets of plates, one for each child,
Carried home, a treasure rare,
Candleholders glowing wild,
Flower pots with memories shared.

At the celebration,laughter filled the air,
But when the tables cleared away,
I knew a part of me stayed there,
In every piece that found its way.

Inspired by love, forever true,
My art lives on, in hands that hold,
It’s more than clay—it’s me and you,
And stories shared as time unfolds.

So when they gather, near or far,
And set the plates upon the table,
A little spark, a guiding star,
Reminds them all—it’s love itself. Mom 🥰
