It was my Superstars birthday yesterday. It started with a sunrise hike on Table mountain and continued into a drive to Franschhoek where we had some nice chocolate and an unplanned hike at Mount Rochelle Nature reserve. We wanted to go out for dinner somewhere but settled for pizza at home as we all were quite tired😏

The Latvians in Cape Town celebrating Jāņi.

Jāņi is the biggest yearly Latvian celebration, honoring the Sun and marking the shortest night. We'll, here in Cape Town it is rather winter solstice, but it doesn't stop us from eating the special Jāņu cheese and coming together for a little feast on Signal Hill.

Today is Latvia's Independence day and I celebrated it by climbing Table Mountain with some of my favorite people. I was born in Latvia and can't wait for this pandemic to be over, so I can go visit my Latvian family again.

Happy 102nd birthday Latvia! 🇱🇻
