POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
🇵🇷 THE PEOPLE’S CHURCH | Behind the Scenes on this first community screening.

A spiritual and significant moment to watch the shortfilm with organizers and community inspired by the historical figures of Pedro Albizu Campos and Laura Meneses.
To gather in a space forever connected to the legacy of the Young Lords and share Mataron a Pedro with a room full of organizers, artists, elders, students, and community members was something we’ll carry with us for a long time.
These photos capture a glimpse of the night, but not the conversations, laughter, tears, and reflections that reminded us history is something we continue to build together.
Deep gratitude to everyone who made this evening possible.
Thank you to Ivelyse Andino (Radical Health), José López, Debbie Pérez, Aku and Remy from Living Room Cinema Club, Daughters and Sons of Borikén, New Era Young Lords, and the staff and leadership of The People’s Church for helping create a space where community and political education continue to thrive.
Thank you to Rosa Clemente for your powerful words, Elisabet Velásquez for opening the evening with a moving poem, DJ Faro for setting the tone with music that felt like home, and our director, Kris, for reminding us that the Puerto Rican story lives across the entire diaspora.
Thank you to Neivy Hilario for documenting the evening through photography and Valerie Martinez Rivera for bringing these moments to life through your beautiful edit and color work.
And thank you to every single person who showed up.
The film doesn’t end when the credits roll.
It lives on in the conversations that follow, in how we carry our history forward, and in the future we choose to build together.

Since Facebook is dead I’m sharing a Facebook post here, and since Instagram isn’t cool anymore I’m sharing my unfiltered thoughts as opposed to a slick caption.

Despite the world being in a blender right now I’m feeling grateful, for the love around me with my family, my friends and our dogs that keep me happy every single day, even on the rough ones.

I’ve realized as @citypicturesnyc grows it continues to come with new challenges every day. Being a founder is not easy, but it is rewarding. Shoutout to everyone who’s been a part of this journey, past, present and future. It’s easy to forget this was once just a dream, so I have to pinch myself sometimes that it’s real, despite the ups and downs of our industry. We’ve started the year on some really cool projects and can’t wait to see what comes next. Also, forever grateful for my twin and best friend @mrcocochanel for supporting me along the way.

One thing I find extremely challenging with myself and the business is managing my time, and I just never seem to have enough of it, but I realize this is a responsibility for myself now to not wait and to carve that out intentionally. I’m still working on that. And, on that note if you do find yourself reaching out to me as either a friend or with my business and I’m slow to respond, please know it’s never intentional. I’m doing my best to keep up with everything. Please keep trying to reach out if so and I will get back to you eventually.

I’m very excited to make space again for my personal work this year, a book, some events, maybe even a gallery show. For now, just setting aside time to create outside of our commercial projects already feels like enough and truly makes me happy.

Hope you’re all doing well. Looking forward to seeing more of you around the city this spring, summer and fall, we got a lot of pictures to take and stories tell.

Much love,
Max ✌️
