10 years celebration 🥳
It’s been wonderful looking back at the photo archives: reflecting on all the neighbors, visitors from all around Aoteroa and beyond who have chilled on the lawns of the majestic Isel House, catching up with friends and family, enjoying delicious food with live music. This is what it’s about: creating memories. Thank you for your support.

I finally finished my watercolour painting. 👨‍🎨
We were immediately captivated by the atmosphere, friendliness and charm of this beautiful city of Nelson. As we drove around the parks and streets of Nelson, we came across a group of local men taking part in what appeared to be a yearly Christmas tradition. Dressed as Santas and elves, they were riding their bicycles through the city, spreading joy and laughter wherever they went. 🎅🎄🚲

We just wish we knew where they were from! They told us that they get together and do this every year. So, if you know any of these wonderful bikers, please show them this watercolour painting. I’m sure they’ll be chuffed to see themselves included in it! The reason I painted this scene is because it holds a very special memory for us. It was our first time visiting Nelson, and my wife Berna was amazed by how friendly and welcoming these men were. When Berna asked if she could take their photo, they immediately stopped and posed, each one taking their position so she could get her picture. It was such a happy and funny little moment, but what really stood out to us was the respect and kindness they showed her. They didn’t hesitate or make her feel uncomfortable in any way, they were simply a group of kind, genuine gentlemen happy to share a moment with her. For Berna, it became a magical little memory that she will always treasure. So, I decided to turn that moment into a watercolour painting, a small reminder of our first time in Nelson, the wonderful people we met, and the warmth we felt in this beautiful city. @artistsofnz
