On August 20th, Ride Illinois recently hosted a one-day professional training session at the CBBEL office in Chicago that concentrated on micromobility in Illinois. Much appreciation to CBBEL for being such gracious hosts! 😊 Nearly 35 engaged and enthusiastic attendees discussed new state legislation that goes into effect on January 1, 2027. Thoughtful presentations and discussion touched on local policies and ordinances, plus how practitioners in the industries of transportation planning, design, and engineering can embrace micromobility in their daily work. Experienced professionals offered meaningful knowledge, relevant perspective, and effective resources throughout the informative workshop. The firms involved in the Embracing Micromobility Workshop are knowledgeable, professional, and proven. Contact CBBEL, HNTB, and Nelson/Nygaard to learn more about the services they offer 👏🏿👏🏽👏🏻 Ride Illinois can also be a useful resource for municipalities and local agencies seeking to integrate and embrace new mobility modes. #micromobility #workshop #collaboration

💡 When #transit agencies understand why people ride, the right fare decisions tend to follow. We recently partnered with SamTrans and Nelson\Nygaard Consulting Associates to gather detailed insights into how riders use and pay for transit, and how potential fare changes could affect them. With a clear view into fare types, usage patterns, and pricing sensitivity, agencies can move forward with policies supported by honest rider #feedback and backed by statistically valid data. As SamTrans marks 50 years of service, we look forward to seeing these insights translate into improvements for district #riders in the years ahead. If your team is exploring similar questions around fare strategy or #ridership, we’re here to help!

@projectmover, a new bike share program in New York’s Hudson Valley is helping to bridge the first- and last-mile gaps and provide a new transportation option within the region. “There is a high proportion of residents commuting outside of these Villages and Towns for work, and the need for affordable mobility options to connect to Metro-North and other job centers farther from bus routes is high,” says Brynn Leopold, senior associate at @nelsonnygaard. “The bikeshare program is designed to serve these individuals, as well as visitors.” 👉 Learn more about Project MOVER at the link in our bio.

We've worked with @laccnp to build a Community Advisory Committee (CAC) to ensure residents and local stakeholders are included in the planning process of the Reconnecting MacArthur Park project, which explores opportunities to transform the area into a more vibrant, pedestrian-centered, public space. Joining the CAC meetings provide a great way to get involved and receive monthly updates about potential park developments that will impact the surrounding neighborhood. Interested in learning more? The next meeting is Wednesday, February 26th at 5pm and will be held at CCNP (501 S Bixel St). Come and help us shape the future of MacArthur Park! What an incredible week at the Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting! Our Program Coordinator Nick Perloff-Giles presented on the drivers of cost overruns in shared mobility, while Lauren N. McCarthy, Director of Research and Impact, sparked discussions on low-income fare programs, congestion pricing, and shared micromobility! Special thanks our partners at @ridewithvia and @nelsonnygaard and to everyone who made it to our #TRBAM25 happy hour, as well as @stantec for their partnership for our planned (but weather-impacted) lunch!
