Happy heavenly birthday, Tommy Lind. You would have been 49 today, which I’m sure would be highly annoying to you because you were always chasing youth in the best way possible. I’m sure you’d be aging like a fine wine and looking much better than the rest of us. 8 birthdays without you seems hard to believe. But we will always celebrate you!

Four years ago now, we started a new tradition. And we want to keep it going.

We want everyone to LIVE LIKE TOM today.

Theo and I are currently concocting our plan, and we will share throughout the day, but we encourage you to...Eat a lot, order two entrees for yourself, or order one for the table next to you. Pay it forward — grab Starbucks or Subway for the person behind you. Work out. Have a cheat day. Eat a box of candy. Pet all the dogs and cats. Better yet, adopt the pet (hint hint, Lacy!). Offer your restaurant leftovers to someone who may need them. Smile at a stranger. Better yet, smile at your lover, your friend and/or your neighbor. Reach out to your friends, or someone who you know may just need a text or call. Play some metal. Play some Guns N Roses. Go for a hike. Head to the ocean. Drive with the windows down and the music blaring. Take a deep breath and just live. LIVE LIKE TOM.

Most importantly, please remember that you are LOVED. Please take a moment, actually many moments, to take care of YOU. And if you’re feeling low, please ASK FOR HELP. Check in on the strong ones, the happy ones, the ones who you may not know are struggling.

If you can, please post a picture and tag me, comment or shoot me a DM with your “act of Tom,” so I can share them with Theo! He really loves this and loves seeing what everyone does. ♥️ We love you, Tommy. We hope you’re smiling.

This is what mid-century magic looks like in Jefferson Park.

My “Welcome to my mid-century modern” series puts a fun spin on property tours. I’m a real estate agent, and no, I don’t own this home, but I do love getting to tell the story behind special properties like this one.

2813 5th Ave is the kind of home that reminds you why mid-century design still has such a hold on people. The warmth, the lines, the built-ins, the pool, the light, and that feeling that the home knows exactly who it is.

Jefferson Park
2813 5th Ave. LA 90018
4 BD 4 BA 2526 SF $1,799,000

Lovingly preserved and rich with architectural character, this historic Mid-Century Modern is ready to welcome its next steward.

Commissioned by Dr. John Robinson, the first Black physician to work at LA County General Hospital, and his TV and radio presenter wife, Doris, the home is thought to be designed by architect Thomas Downs, with additional design by Lester Bankhead. The home underwent an extensive renovation in 2017 and was further restored in 2021 by the current owners who focused on preserving the features that truly defined this era of architectural style.

The Robinson Residence is punctuated by clean lines, post-and-beam construction, Walnut-paneled walls, original beechwood built-ins and a floor plan centered on entertaining. It is both unique and surprising in a neighborhood filled with early 1900s Craftsman bungalows.

This fabulous listing and all details are brought to you by the one and only @nelsonregister

DM me if you’re thinking this home is the vibe you’ve been looking for ❤️
