This past Cinco de Mayo I gathered some of my closest community to share something vulnerable ꨄ︎

What many don’t know is that @midcitymercado - my beloved community-driven 501(c)(3) - was born out of @mariscosmarias. The restaurant has served as MCMs biggest fiscal sponsor and supporter up to this point. & on its 26th year of business, the possibility of closing was a conversation that pains me and my family to the core.

Mariscos María’s is the engine of this ecosystem, so I’m taking the biggest leap of my life. I’m stepping into ownership to save the restaurant - and in doing so, save the space Mercado calls home, save Persona, and protect all the work I feel divinely called to do. That evening was my way of asking for support, while reaffirming my commitment to pour that same energy back into this community.

We are all a walking testimony of what it looks like to move through fear and walk in faith anyway. You are not alone - and I could never do this alone❤️
