Today, I was honored by Senator Hughes as one of Philadelphia’s young men under 30 making a difference in the community.

This recognition means more than words can explain because it represents the impact I’ve been blessed to make across the city and throughout Pennsylvania. Through elementary school teaching, and coaching at the high school and college levels, I’ve had the opportunity to reach, guide, and inspire lives in ways I once never imagined.

Being from Philadelphia, giving back to the same community that raised me means everything. I grew up watching both my mother and father pour into others, so to now walk in that same purpose is a blessing I don’t take lightly.

What makes this moment even deeper for me is knowing that Malcolm X and I share the same birthday — May 19. A man whose words, leadership, and commitment to empowering Black communities continue to inspire generations. To be recognized today while reflecting on that shared connection feels powerful and reminds me that purpose, education, and service all matter.

I’m incredibly grateful for this honor, for every student, student-athlete, family, and mentor who has been part of this journey, and for the opportunity to continue serving alongside so many accomplished individuals.

This is bigger than an award — it’s purpose. Philadelphia made me, and I’ll always give back. I will keep being a leader in my community. I’m going to be the change I want to see #GETBCKSZN #GODFIRST #0excuses #BANE0 #leadership
