Hey everybody!! What an amazing few days at the ATNS conference in Dallas! After a whirlwind of amazing speakers, ideas, conversations (and dancing!!), I checked in with my peripheral brain 🧠 to help me recap a few highlights! 🤠

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to all of our speakers for bringing so much knowledge and heart to the conference. I am so grateful to be part of this community!

A digital replay of the conference is coming. Keep an eye on neuroplastic.org for details. And if you could not join us this year, we hope to see you next year!

I did it scared. AGAIN.

Yesterday @callieknutrition and I stood in front of 300+ people at the @neuroplasticorg conference talking about something that once completely consumed my life: food intolerances.

There was a time when I could only eat about 15 foods. I was terrified of reactions, constantly monitoring my body, and convinced that something was wrong with nearly everything I ate.

What I didn’t understand then was how much my nervous system was involved.

Food reactions are REAL. But not every reaction is necessarily an immune response or a sign that a food is harming you. Sometimes, a sensitized nervous system can learn to associate certain foods with danger, creating very real physical symptoms through conditioned responses.

And through mind body training, those learned responses can change. I know because I’ve lived it, and now I get to help others explore this possibility too.

AND healing meant teaching my nervous system being scared is ok

I was SCARED to get on that stage. My nervous system was activated, my heart was racing, and a part of me wanted to run away.

And I did it anyway.

Because the same principles I teach about healing apply to how we live our lives. We don’t have to wait until fear disappears to show our brains that we’re capable of doing something new.

Sometimes we heal by expanding our capacity to experience discomfort without interpreting it as danger.

You don’t have to wait until you feel safe, confident, or symptom-free to start reclaiming your life. Sometimes taking the next step is how your nervous system learns that you’re safe.

From being afraid of food to standing on a stage teaching hundreds of people about the nervous system’s role in food sensitivities.

Pretty freaking cool what can happen when you stop waiting to feel ready. 🥹
