As we look across Ward Mountain tonight, it’s hard not to feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude. Just days ago, so many of us were preparing for the possibility of losing homes, memories, and the places we hold dear. Instead, through what feels nothing short of a miracle, the Ward Mountain Fire moved away from our town. The winds stayed in our favor when we needed them most, and by God’s grace, our community did not lose a single home. We are incredibly blessed. Our deepest thanks go to the U.S. Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the North Lincoln Fire Department, and every firefighter, first responder, dispatcher, law enforcement officer, and support crew member who worked fearlessly and tirelessly around the clock to protect our community. Your courage, sacrifice, and dedication will never be forgotten. Tonight, instead of responding to a devastating disaster, we have the opportunity to count our blessings. We can hug our families a little tighter, appreciate the roofs over our heads, and reflect on just how fortunate we are. This fire reminded us that our greatest strength has always been each other. We watched neighbors stand ready to help neighbors, businesses prepare to serve displaced families if needed, volunteers step forward without hesitation, and an entire community unite with hope, compassion, and resilience. White Pine is more than a place to live—it’s a family. Tonight, our hearts are full of gratitude for everyone who stood on the front lines and everyone who prayed, supported, and believed. May we never take these blessings for granted. A special (and snowy) stop in Ely at the Nevada Northern Railway Museum 🚂❄️ While in Ely, I made a stop at the museum thanks to a recommendation from Mayor Nathan Robertson, and it ended up being such a memorable part of the visit. Walking through the historic trains as the snow started falling brought a whole new perspective to Nevada’s story. What makes this place so unique is how preserved it is—when the railroad shut down, workers left expecting to return, and so much of it remains just as it was, like stepping into a moment frozen in time. The Nevada Northern Railway Museum carries the stories, the work, and the history of the people who built our state! 🚂

It was a pleasure meeting with Nathan Robertson, the Mayor of Ely, and having such a thoughtful conversation. We discussed disability services in rural communities like Ely, and what access and support can look like outside of larger cities. It was a meaningful reminder of how important rural communities are across Nevada and the need to continue supporting and advocating for these areas. We also spoke about service and scholarship through the Miss America Organization, and the opportunities this role provides to connect with and serve communities across our state. I’m grateful for the time, the conversation, and the opportunity to continue learning and advocating!

It was a beautiful 50 degrees and sunny at Cave Lake! They have day use areas around the water with picnic tables and grills which was perfect for lunch after a hike! The lake is mostly frozen over so a couple people were definitely taking advantage of the ice fishing opportunity 🎣 @cavelakestatepark

On our way to Great Basin NP we stopped at Cathedral Gorge State Park Wandering through the slot canyons of Cathedral Gorge, Nevada feels like stepping into another world. Narrow passageways, sculpted walls, and layers of history carved by time, wind, and water. It feels like I was walking so slowly, not knowing what to expect! Every turn reveals a new texture, a new curve, a new moment that makes you stop and look up.
