It’s been a week since the final Twilight Meet of our inaugural Fitzy Night Series so I think I’ve finally processed it all. What started as a conversation over a bowl of chili with my captains in January came to life. It wasn’t perfect, but I sure had fun trying to make it that way. I also have a whole new level of respect for track meet directors. This felt like a real life version of a thousand piece puzzle and it really tickled my brain in a way that left me eager to do again and do better. Like the critical corner piece we really needed for last Saturday to fit together as pictured. NE weather is a hurdle of its own. There is so much we can and will improve upon when we do this again next summer but overall I’m left with so much to smile about and I hope that most of those who participated or volunteered feel the same way.

A major reason for hosting these was because we have to travel out of state a lot to compete when it comes to track and field and it can be a physical and financial burden on our local athletes. We want these meets to grow and uplift our Maine T&F scene, to be an environment that is welcoming to athletes across all levels for high schoolers and up and to be a reason to share our beautiful state with visitors.

I’m speechless and forever grateful for the army of people who came together to lift this thing off the ground. It makes me emotional to think about actually. And then to see athletes achieve lifetime bests, break stadium records and try and rewrite the Maine historical books was icing on the cake as they say.

From the deep depths of my heart, thank you thank you THANK YOU ALL 🫶🙏❤️
