I’ve been going to punk / hardcore / metal shows for almost 30 years now. I took a break from going to shows due to the pandemic shutting things down and life happening.

I’ve been to 3 shows in the last 30 days. Sure the music is fun, but connecting with the people and friends I’ve made along the way are what make it the most special. I forgot how good it feels and how much of a stress relieve it is.

This was last night at chain reaction. I missed the opening bands and the first 10 minutes of crowbar, but it didn’t really matter. I got to see people I love and care about in an environment where “normal life” doesn’t exist, at least for a little while.

I’ve known almost every person in this photo for 20+ years, and a lot more people who were there are missing from it. (Keller, Loomis)

TLDR: hang out with you’re friends more
