This year marks the 10th Anniversary of #MTBJesus and I have decided to reinstate a former tradition, #panshotfriday, to honor both the occasion of the nickname imparted by @maddogboris, but also as a way to send off MSA in (my) style! Qualies were loose, roll onto Finals!

Being there while DH history was made was an honour and privilege that I can’t quite believe I was fortunate to experience. Seeing Nina AND Jackson take Women’s and Men’s Elite podium was emotional - It’s such a rare moment for a team in our sport to experience. Add to that Jackson getting his fourth in a row and equaling the record was an exceptional birthday experience. I’d turned 45 on the Friday, but aged a few years during that week. The rollercoaster of a week is hard to explain. Even if you’re not racing everything means so much and inevitably there’s a range of human emotions that you have to manage.

One of the Syndicate’s goals is to have everyone on the team succeed. La Thuile was a great indicator we’re on the right track to achieving that. But behind the champagne there’s tears and fears, so the work to have every rider (and mechanic and staff member) have their win continues.

Although I know many of these skaters and spots it was after I left SA so I’m very curious to know more from those who feature (and who follow this feed). Can you enlighten us please? 12 years ago. I used to ride this on my 26” hardtail on my commute home from coaching kid camps. Dumb times, sharp muscles. Now I daydream about riding with @nevsnitram because he’s one of the funnest dudes to ride with. We’re dads now so we’re more mature, possibly.

Zigzag skate feature circa ‘87. Ok, so it isn’t Cape Town, but this was (possibly) the first skate imagery I saw in any SA mag at the time. One skater is @svenmartinphoto, not sure of the other two dudes. Photos by @haldanemartin. I must have stared at this page for hours.
