Hitting the climbing gym @MesaRimClimbing was the perfect way to prep our Leadership Program cohort for their outdoor climbing day this summer. A huge thanks to @newdawnfoundation for providing everyone in the program with climbing shoes for all of the adventures to come!

This is Mission, a tiny section on the outskirts of the town of Salina Victoria. Villagers build their homes with scraps and kids drop out of school early. When we visited, nights were in the 40s - we can only imagine with no heat, the cold behind the thin metal sheet walls. When summer comes in a few weeks, it will feel like an oven...

But, when we met the children who came from this village at the weekly soup kitchen sponsored by Centro de Fe, Esperanza y Amor, we learnt that they are no different than us. They love to play, laugh and have fun.

We are still continuing our efforts to raise funds for Mission.

Last week, thanks to @laposadaenelpotrerochico for cohosting, we shared with many visitors, who came from the city of Monterrey, about our project. Even though the two are only an hour away, the city dwellers did not know of the existence and needs of Mission community.

We are so glad for the warm support from everyone. A lady who has never seen a Chalkbag in her life bought two home. Climbers and non climbers found something they like and contributed to Mission.

Was wonderful volunteering alongside the @elbuhocafemx team. To God be the glory!

Praise God our first charity gear sale at El Potrero Chico, Monterrey 🇲🇽 that we hosted last Sunday went well!

Proceeds goes to a new middle school of a small puebla of 10,000 not far from here, where running water is scarce and people live in make shift structures. Prior to having a middle school, it cost $1/ day for teens to travel to the city. This was not sustainable when average families make $50/month. The existence of this school keeps Mexican youth off the streets and is transforming lives who would otherwise be recruited by drug cartels who are active in this zone.

Shout out to our partner Chris @newdawnfoundation who sent us the huge bag of donated gear from @rei and various SoCal gyms @long_beach_rising @hangar_18_orange (formally The Factory) which made this fundraiser project possible.

We lugged the gear all the way from California, spent a few mornings cleaning and sanitizing the goods, and then finally sharing with international climbers from different guest houses in town.

More than 50 climbers showed up in batches throughout the evening.
We were stoked so many left happily with shoes that fit them and useful gear to add to their personal collection!

But what warmed our hearts was seeing many contributed above the suggested donations, giving generously to the good cause.

Thank you Mary and Mario, owners of @ranchoelsenderoepc who are always so supportive of charitable events.
And, to Jan from @elbuhocafemx and the school principal and his family for driving down to share.

Round 2 of the fundraiser is this Saturday, March 6, at 7.30pm @ La Posada EPC.

Education raise awareness and with that, collectively we are empowered to do more.

Here’s to a wonderful experience at my second USA Youth Bouldering Nationals 2020. Last year, I was a newbie at Bouldering Nationals - it was an eye opener to be on the big stage with the big boys. I went home ranking in the mid 30s with a rich lesson learnt.
This year, I am blessed to represent my region 202 again to enter this prestigious competition. I placed well 14/50 in Qualifiers and was stoked to advance to Semi Finals where I tied 19th. I’m pleased with my performance having made progress to Semis. Now, can’t wait for rope season to begin!

I know all this cannot happen without the big support from all my friends, coaches, team and every one of my sponsors and donors who believe in me (+🖐those cheering from so far away in front of big and small screens!) Thank you and thank you for your prayers 🙏 !! Shout out to everyone who worked so hard: Setters, volunteers, USA Climbing and background workers so we can climb. 🙌👍🤟🤙 @evolv_worldwide

Hey everyone! Today, our friends at @NewDawnFoundation will be at The Factory!! They are an amazing non-profit organization run by climbers who give back to those in need. Thanks @TheFactoryBouldering for giving them a space 👍
•
New Dawn Foundation takes used or damaged gear from outdoor retailers in order to fix them and donate them to other non-profits that can put them to better use. •
They are doing a raffle, accepting donations and giving out information about their cause. You can either donate items and get raffle tickets based on the size of those items, or you can buy their stickers and get a raffle. Please go check them out and support them. Also, say “Hi” to them for us!

Gear donations from #rei went to a local non-profit called The Laurel Foundation (@thelaurelfdn) helping children and families affected by HIV and AIDS and trans-youth experience the outdoors in #bigbear California.
