Over 6,500 miles and 255,000ft of elevation later and season 3 is in the books 🫪

Beyond blessed to have the ability to explore and experience new roads, new friendships, and the demolition of my comfort zone.

Great weekend racing up in Hartland, Connecticut at the @tokenekeroadrace presented by @the_ccap

44 miles and 4,500ft of elevation with a finish of 29/35.

Had a chain drop right after the first climb and spent the rest of the race trying to make up time by working with any and everyone once I got it back on. This is definitely my fault for not replacing my chain before this race as I was speculating that the chain was cooked after having a few more drops recently.

Initially I didn’t have this race on my calendar but I’m glad that I ended up doing it. Saw a ton of friends I’ve made across the season and had a blast trying something outside of my typical wheelhouse. Truly pleased with my effort here and looking forward to next year!

This was also a great lesson in exploring some new roads and even fast descending (47mph to be exact).

Grateful for the ability and opportunity to take part in racing.

It’s almost like I knew what fate awaited me and was still a resounding “yes, lessss get it” 🤣😅. I learned a lot this race. I literally did everything I was physically capable of and even went beyond in some areas I thought were my limits and still finished a very definitive dead last. Learned that even my very best can net such a poor result. I’m always down for a challenge and to test myself and my capabilities. One day I’d love to show up to a race like this, on a course such as this, and be a threat for podium. Whether or not that happens isn’t the point, it’s all the hard work, consistency, showing up day after day, that will matter most at the end of this journey. If there is anything I’ve learned from the successful competitors I’ve raced against through the years it’s that this sport takes time to get good at. I’m here for all of it. One more race left to finish out the season and then back to the woodshed to build 🤘👊

Thank you @the_ccap for putting together such a phenomenal event!

A few podium pics from this morning's @the_ccap @tokenekeroadrace. The rest of the podiums are online now, (as I told a couple of people--before dinner! Link in bio!) with race photos on the way soon, courtesy of the CCAP.

@nbx_bikes 🥈 Summer Training Series

Fortunately in the summer NBX holds a summer training crit series that enables people to get some more reps and fitness in ahead of the close of the season with a few Wells Aves and the Grand Prix left.

I was fortunate to be able to make it and race in the B race and A race with a solid workshop in both. In the B race I wanted to stay at the front and not make any mental mistakes I’d regret - I did exactly that. I made some solid moves to try to get some traction, almost won a preme, and came in 2nd which got me a gift after the race.

The B race for me was really about staying focused, making good lines, and making the right decision in the right place. I just tried to survive the A race LOL (not in this video)

Another bangin’ race in the books! @545velo delivered the goods running the 43rd edition of the Concord Crit. As the end of the 26’ season draws near, I have to say that after a full season racing here in New England, I can say definitively New England has some of the most insanely fun and VERY hard, most technical courses I’ve ever raced. I absolutely loved this. It was hard as hell. A race of attrition in many ways. Very technical and yet another crit with a phenomenal amount of elevation gain over the course of an hour. Real proud of myself with how hard I fought for this one. Finished strong landing 15th out of 32 guys in a very strong field of 40 and 50+ masters (I placed 5th in the 40+) with almost a third of the field DNFing. I will absolutely race this again next year. A couple things I’d change in my tactical approach and hopefully losing around 10lbs or so will help with all the climbing 😅. If you find yourself racing up in this part of the country, Concord is one you should absolutely hit.

Big thanks to @contentfactoryracing for the killer snaps 📸

Race Report: 12/45 🗒️✅

Another awesome Tuesday night race at the rent thanks to the @the_ccap. What a great way to close out a series! These races have given me an opportunity to work on some key strengths and weaknesses.

I spent a ton of time in the beginning of the race, covering or holding things together - that was my first mistake, but not my biggest.

My biggest mistake was taking the pedal off the gas as we rounded 1 lap to go. The pace slowed, I got comfortable and it was in that moment my race was sealed.

I was COOKED and lost focus. We got swarmed so the only thing I could do was move up and fight for a good position. I’m not sure why I thought it was a good time to reserve energy with such a large field. OTHER THAN THAT, I’m thrilled with this result and I’m glad I’ve learned a valuable lesson.

Racing requires so much focus, from the reaction of the bike to making split second decisions that can win you or cost you the race.

Over these last 5 races I’ve learned so much about what it takes to really race. It almost feels like in my first two seasons I was just racing with my head in the clouds.

Huge shoutout to @turbo_donkey33 - he’s helped me not only with general coaching but helping me think more effectively on the bike in different situations. It’s great to have new ways of approaching this sport mentally and physically.

Excited for the next one!
