Figure 2 Summary of Resveratrol effects on AR dependent pathways. 1. RSV reduces the production of adrenal androgens, via inhibition of CYP17A1 in adrenocortical cells. 2. RSV represses different classes of androgen up-regulated genes in prostate cancer cells. 3. RSV decreases the transcriptional activity of AR through c-Jun specific DNA binding activity in prostatic cancer cells. 4. RSV decreases the ligand-induced nuclear accumulation of AR reducing its acetylation status in prostate cancer cells

👀Quick quiz: Which hormone affects BOTH men and women?
A) Testosterone
B) Estradiol
C) DHEA
D) ALL OF THE ABOVE
👉 Answer: D - all of the above

Most people think sex hormones only affect libido, but they also play a major role in overall wellness.
✨ Testosterone supports energy, strength, mood, focus, and libido.
✨ Estradiol supports bone, heart, brain, and emotional health in BOTH men and women.
✨ DHEA is often called the “parent hormone” because it helps the body produce other hormones and supports healthy aging.

⚠️ Hormonal imbalances don’t always look obvious. Symptoms can include:
• Fatigue
• Brain fog
• Poor sleep
• Mood changes
• Weight changes
• Low libido

Hormones are interconnected - when one is out of balance, it can affect the entire body.

At Newport Practitioner, we focus on identifying root causes and helping patients optimize wellness through personalized care and hormone health education.

Sexual Health and Quality of Life
The balancing act of LIFE’s Ups & Downs.
It’s not just because we’re getting older.

Sexual Health affects physical health, emotional well-being, relationships, and overall quality of life.

Our internal responses to life experiences, environment, activity level, and genetics differ significantly, influencing our unique health journeys.

How we react regulates:

Oxytocin - “The Bonding Hormone”
Produced in the hypothalamus, oxytocin is the body’s built-in stress regulator. It’s released with physical connections like cuddling, hugging, and affectionate touch, helping create emotional safety, deepen trust, and strengthen connection in both men and women.

Testosterone - The driver for sexual desire and arousal for men and women.

Testosterone is converted into Estrogen - is a fundamental part of hormonal balance and is required for both men and women to maintain optimal sexual health, bone density, and brain function.

Deeper discussion - Negatively affecting Sexual Health:

Cortisol - Stress hormone. Secreted by the adrenals (kidneys). Regulated by the brain through the hypothalamus (HPA).
Prolactin - A neuroendocrine Growth Hormone polypeptide
Secreted by the anterior pituitary gland, has over 300 distinct biological actions.
Functions included water and electrolyte balance, growth and development, endocrinology and metabolism, brain and behavior, and immunoregulation.
It is negatively regulated by dopamine. Some biological pathways: prostate, ovary, and liver tissue.
Prolactin can be regulated by estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone.

We are beautifully complex and unique.

Hormones are not just about balance.

Hormone optimization is about how you feel, function, and live every day.

For both men and women, hormone health and sexual wellness are closely interconnected. Energy, mood, metabolism, cognitive clarity, and intimacy are all influenced by hormonal balance and should be addressed as part of a comprehensive care plan.

At our clinic, we take an individualized, evidence-based approach. Treatment is tailored to each patient’s physiology, symptoms, and goals—not solely lab values.

We offer a full spectrum of hormone replacement options:
• Pellets
• Injections
• Oral therapy
• Patches
• Topical creams
