This morning, my roommate congratulated me on hitting 200,000 followers and it took me a second to realise he was talking about Instagram. Since starting this account almost nine years ago, a lot has happened. A global pandemic, the rise of TikTok, AI, the shift from static to reels, three different career paths and moving countries to name a few. Things have changed and some of you have seen me through all of it. A portion of you stayed and supported which I thank you so much for and many of you decided to dip because you were tired of my shit which I think is absolutely fair and justified. If you’re fairly new here, you probably think this long-winded post is out of the ordinary but this is actually how it all started - a carousel of 10 food images (because that’s the most Instagram allowed) and a caption that was longer than my dick to go alongside it. No video, no roommate and unfortunately no concerns of consequences. To celebrate the milestone of 200k followers, I thought I’d bring it back. Today, my roommate and I went to Room Ten @newroomten Someone told me that this was where locals went and its sister Piña was where the tourists went. I beg to differ because both cafés had a queue and wait time of over 20 minutes but I was determined to try this place after seeing it on TikTok the night before. I want to mention the tuna melt first because that rocked my world like no other. I froth a tuna melt that was made by someone who isn’t shy with mayo as this one was drenched but not to the point of dripping. Capers gave it a fresh balance and I’d come back just for that. Spring onion pancake wrap was special and next time I wouldn’t even bother with the addition of pork sausage because that bitch held its own. Lamb wrap looked dry but looks can be deceiving as it actually had the perfect amount of yoghurt tahini. Last but not least, but actually least was the kale salad. This is something I never would’ve ordered when I first started this account but I guess it goes to show that people do grow up and going to the bathroom regularly becomes a higher priority than a fleeting moment on the lips. Overall, 9.31/10 experience, 14.21/10 ELF scale

Primary is elite, and highly regarded and some of the best coffee in 2011 if not Sydney! Great outdoor seating and ready to setup the middle of a long weekend 🙌🏻

Barrel one is a perfect mixture of amazing coffee and delicious treats! Their cookie game is PHENOMENALLY strong and they do a decent drop as well ☺️

Igniis has the greatest cinnamon scroll in Sydney and nothing you can say will change my mind! Also great outdoor seating and wonderful coffee as well 👍

Algorithm has been such a great addition to the Popo region and we couldn’t be happier to get a seat outside, while we watch the world go past - amazing staff too ❤️

Room ten never fails to please and is one of our absolute faves! Phenomenal food and coffee to setup the gorgeous spring Sunday ☀️

Elizabeth bay Cafe is where we get our morning coffee ‘en route’ to the dog park at 6am! Their mix of premium blends and delicious options helps keep start the day 95% of the week 😎

If you love an eclair and coffee game then Cafe de la Fontaine is the pace to start your Sunday! This gorgeous French style setup has been an institution for a while and does an amazing crepe too 🇫🇷

Gypsy is the perfect little indoor / outdoor seating in the heart of Popo with an maxing menu and phenomenal coffee too! Their salad game is STRONG and we love the outdoor seating too 🍵

There’s an art to a good coffee date ☕️

Not the rushed takeaway kind. The kind where you choose somewhere you love, settle in, and decide that for the next little while, nothing needs your attention except the person sitting opposite you.

Considering coffee is also our work, you’d think we’d be sick of cafés 😂 But I don’t think I’ll ever tire of discovering beautiful little places together.

Maybe it’s the coffee. Maybe it’s the people watching. Maybe it’s simply having an excuse to sit still with my favourite person.

Either way, it’s one of those little rituals I hope we’re still doing when we’re old and grey.

Underrated brunch spot in Potts Point✨! @newroomten is run by the team behind @pinapottspoint 🍵 I came here for the banana bread🍌🍞 and I’m confident to say it did not disappoint😎

What we ordered:

Banana Bread🍌🍞 $12
I love love love this!!! This is not any regular banana bread😎 It is served warm and is topped with light, airy whipped coffee ricotta ☕️ + nutty, creamy almond butter🧈. This combination harmonises perfectly - the subtle coffee notes and mild bitterness balance the natural sweetness of the banana bread🤌🏻, while the almond butter🥜 brings extra depth and nuttiness that lingers. Finely chopped nuts on top bring that much-needed crunch and texture too.
Honestly, I don’t think I’ve come across this combination of banana bread anywhere else in Sydney — definitely one I’d recommend trying😋!

Mushroom Melts🍄‍🟫🥪 $14
Warmly toasted with irresistibly crispy edges🤤. I still dream of this as it is very indulgent and flavourful - loaded with three types of cheese🧀, earthy field & shiitake mushrooms🍄 , grilled fennel, pungent jalapeño and marjoram. The jalapeño plays a pivotal role here by cutting through all that cheesy richness with a subtle kick. It’s best to share among two ppl as this is quite filling!🤰🏻
