Did you catch week two of the Over it Campaign in News Corp newspapers last weekend?

OCRF CEO Robin Penty, and ovarian cancer researcher Dr Maree Bilandzic, from Hudson Institute of Medical Research, spoke to the strength of Australia’s world-class ovarian cancer researchers and the progress that would be possible with game-changing funding – potentially transforming ovarian cancer into a survivable disease.

@newscorpaus and the OCRF are calling on the Australian Government to dedicate $84 million over the next four years towards ovarian cancer research, with continued funding until ovarian cancer survival rates lift from 49% to more than 90%, on par with many other cancer types.

Less than 1% of Australian government research funding has gone towards ovarian cancer in the past 15 years.

While the campaign moves forward, the OCRF needs your support as much as ever.

So, if you are feeling fired up and want to support Australia’s talented researchers, write to your local MP to tell them you are over it too, and consider donating to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. Your support is as important as ever.

Craig “Moose” Moore was an award-winning advertising creative, a keen ocean swimmer, a surf lifesaver, and a proud dad. He ran at life.

But in a cruel twist, Moose was diagnosed with dementia at 46 years old.

Over the decade that followed, he became terrified of open water and avoided an ocean swim that he would have loved.

He left me abandoned at a long-planned dinner date because, without admitting it, he got lost going in the wrong direction.

His stuttering embarrassed him. Fearing judgment, he would often walk off mid-sentence.

Today we launch the second annual Think Again campaign, to drive national advocacy, reframe dementia as a brain health issue and encourage earlier action for more Australians.

Dementia is now Australia’s leading cause of death. It is not a normal part of aging - and yet there is so much more we can do about it.
