![At the age of 22, I committed myself to dancing. I did it because I wanted to make a little girl’s dream come true — a girl who was truly passionate about dance. She would spend hours watching MTV, copying the moves of famous artists. She would perform at home, family gatherings and celebrations, imagining herself as one of the pop stars she saw on TV. It was her way of expressing herself and making herself seen. She just loved performing and seeing how people were happy around her. She found something that brought her joy, and she wanted to share that joy with others.
It was my responsibility to carry that dream, so I kept it close to my heart and carefully protected it for years. Once I finally began pursuing her dream, I protected the little girl from judgment, fear, doubt, and stigma, so she could grow freely, and apparently it worked. She was never ashamed to be in the same room as advanced dancers, even when she was in the very beginning of her path. She would take classes at all kinds of levels and embrace every opportunity to dance, never afraid to put herself in front of the class. So she was not afraid of making a fool of herself because there was too much joy and excitement in the process of growing.
Whenever she saw advanced dancers in a class, she looked up to them as examples of what she could become one day. They were living proof of what was possible. They inspired her to keep going. However, their abilities never made her question her own worth or feel less capable.
But none of this would ever have been possible without one very important person in my life. The woman in this video [0:47] is my grandma. She was the only one who truly saw me. She always tried to understand me and give advice in the gentlest, most thoughtful way. She was the kind of person who would listen to you and support even your wildest dream. She would simply believe in you, and I miss her so much. Я люблю тебя, ба ♥️
