What happens in a child’s brain while sight-reading music?

Watch closely. This is much more than playing the right notes!

She’s reading a new piece while listening to an audio backing track and following her teacher.

Her brain is working on several tasks simultaneously:

🎼 Visual processing — reading notes and recognising musical patterns.

🧠 Working memory — holding musical information while preparing for what comes next.

🎧 Active listening — coordinating her playing with the accompaniment.

⚡ Problem-solving — recognising mistakes and adjusting almost instantly.

🎯 Attention & self-correction — finding her place again without stopping the music.

And here’s what makes this particularly impressive:

She can make a mistake, recover immediately and continue so smoothly that you might barely notice!

This is a skill developed through consistent practice, not simply memorising pieces.

Every lesson strengthens her musical fluency, independence and ability to respond to unexpected challenges.

🎹 At New Tune Music & Art Academy, we teach children not just to play music, but to THINK while playing.

Want your child to develop these skills?

“My child gets distracted, struggles to follow instructions or cries during group classes. Maybe they’re not ready to learn?” 🎹

At 2–3 years old, every child develops at their own pace.

Some toddlers enjoy group activities, while others need more time, individual attention and a quieter learning environment.

💛 That’s why at New Tune Music and Art Academy, we offer Individual Early Childhood Music & Development Classes for Toddlers.

These are more than traditional piano lessons.

Each session combines music, movement, sensory exploration and educational play, with a programme carefully adapted to your child’s age, developmental needs, abilities and interests.

🎹 Early musical development
🧠 Attention, memory & concentration
🗣️ Speech & language development
🥁 Rhythm & coordination
👂 Listening & auditory discrimination
💛 Confidence & emotional development
🌱 Cognitive & fine motor development

One child. One teacher. A personalised approach.

No pressure to keep up with others. Just structured, age-appropriate activities designed to support your child’s development, one step at a time.

Because children don’t all learn in the same way — and they shouldn’t have to.

🎹 Learning music is also learning how to learn.

For a 4-year-old autistic child, a structured and predictable learning routine can play an important role in development.

With consistent parental support, regular piano practice gradually becomes part of everyday life.

Through this process, children practise:

🧠 Concentration and attention
🎯 Following routines and instructions
💪 Perseverance and problem-solving
🎹 Coordination and musical skills
🌱 Independence and self-regulation

The goal goes beyond learning an instrument.

We are developing learning habits and transferable skills that can support future education, personal development and eventually professional life.

At New Tune Music & Art Academy, we focus on individual progress, consistency and meaningful learning.

🎹😂 When you give your student a new piece… and realise you’ve got homework too!

Today I introduced a new piece to one of my students. And now? It’s my turn to sight-read it! 👀🎼

Because being a piano teacher doesn’t mean you stop learning.

Every new piece is another opportunity to explore, analyse, discover and challenge yourself.

And that’s exactly what I want my students to understand:

Learning never stops — even when you’re the teacher! 😎🎹

At New Tune Music & Art Academy, we learn, experiment and grow together! 💛
