Leg Pain When Walking or Standing? 🦵
If walking or standing causes leg pain, lumbar spinal stenosis may be one possible cause.

✨ Gentle stretching and movement may help improve flexibility and mobility.

In this post, we’ll show you some simple stretches you can try to help you move more comfortably.

👉 Move gently, don’t force a stretch, and stop if you experience increased pain, numbness, or weakness.

Save this post and share it with someone who may benefit!

Rest is a four letter word! In physical therapy, I’ve talked to numerous people that have arrested for days weeks or even months to allow something to heal. Just because an area is still painful doesn’t mean it needs more rest most times it means it needs movement. Especially as we age the rest causes a massive amount of deconditioning, atrophy, and stiffness. Talk to us how we can get you moving past that chronic injury.#physicaltherapy #chronicinjury#injuryrecovery #healthtips

How We Treat Lumbar Disc Problems 🔬

Whether you’re dealing with a disc herniation, disc bulge, or that nagging low back pain that just won’t quit, our approach is built around getting you moving safely and progressively.

We use the McKenzie Method to guide your recovery — a research-backed system that helps us identify exactly which movements reduce your pain and restore function.

Here’s how our exercise progression looks:

1️⃣ Prone with Pillow — Lying face down with a pillow placed under the waist. This gentle position begins to introduce extension and decompress the disc without any active effort.

2️⃣ Prone — We remove the pillow and simply lie flat, allowing the spine to naturally settle into extension.

3️⃣ Prone on Elbows — Propping up onto the elbows introduces a gentle, passive extension through the lumbar spine, encouraging the disc to centralize.

4️⃣ Prone Press Up — Pushing up through the hands while the hips stay down creates a stronger extension force to reduce disc pressure and centralize symptoms.

5️⃣ Physical Therapist Joint Mobilizations — At this stage, your therapist applies hands-on joint mobilizations directly to the lumbar spine to promote and restore extension mobility. This manual therapy technique helps unlock stiff spinal segments and accelerates the centralization process.

6️⃣ Prone Press Up with Overpressure — At the top of the press up, we add gentle overpressure to push the extension range just a little further when the body is ready.

7️⃣ Prone Press Up with Seatbelt Technique — A therapist-assisted technique where a belt is used to stabilize the pelvis, allowing for a more targeted and controlled extension force. A game-changer for stubborn disc cases.

Every step is guided, monitored, and tailored to YOU. No cookie-cutter programs here. 💪

Drop a comment or DM us if you have questions about your disc issue!

🛑 Rest isn’t always the answer.
As a physical therapist, I see this all the time: after an injury, people rest too much—and it actually slows recovery. Prolonged rest can lead to stiffness, muscle weakness, reduced circulation, and even more pain when you try to move again.
The goal isn’t no pain, no movement.
The goal is smart, guided movement that helps tissues heal, restores confidence, and gets you back to what you love—safely.
Healing happens through progressive loading, not endless time on the couch. Your body was designed to move… even during recovery.
