Nico grew up in the land of mussels, beer, chocolate and frietzakken. Currently hiding out in Portland, OR with the lovely AK and two little monkeys.

@taleofuspizza is now firmly in my current top 3 tier of pizza in Portland! The tender dough and crispy bake combined with that bright sweet sauce really show that good ingredients and craftsmanship are all you need to make an excellent pie. Find them at the Prost! pod, order a pie or two, and enjoy with a crisp beer!

Nothing like a thali lunch plate to brighten up the work day. Mutton and chicken curries, excellent dal and sambar. Go get some Apna Chat in Beaverton!

Might as well celebrate the first post of this account with a report of the best dinner experience I’ve had in Portland in the last few months. The food, the vibe, the hospitality… it all transported us to a place far away. My only fear is that it will be impossible for us to get in once @mareeportland blows up.

Mussel escabeche toast with green chili aioli… our last savory dish also ended up being my absolute favorite.

Really good sourdough, seaweed butter. Love it when good bread is served slightly smoky from being kissed by a grill.

Best spot to catch the last sun rays of this perfect summer evening.

Le Classique. Cognac, banana liqueur, cardamom.

Confit albacore, sauce gribiche, fennel salad. That sauce! Bright, briny, savory.

Brassicas, onion soubise. Finger licking good!

Drinks kept getting better…

And just like that we were transported back to our Greece trip earlier this summer.

— Crispy squid with fennel and guindilla peppers

Perfectly executed burnt Basque cheesecake — a rich and sweet ending to a dinner that swept us to a different place, if only for a few fleeting moments.

This corner has had a lot of turnover in the last few years. I hope that @mareeportland is here to stay for a long time!

Che bello! For the love of pigs. Here’s (almost) everything I ate at Maialata: Festival of the Pig, this past weekend. ✨🐖✨

The day kicked off with a very educational whole hog butchery demonstration, followed by hands-on workshops covering pasta, gnocchi, pork fillets, and preservation. Then came lunch, wine, gelato and a glorious chef collaboration dinner. 🍽️

Pork Liver Pâté & Pane Nostrana
Even Pull Farms Pickles
Pig Head & Plants
Spring Pea & Ricotta Angnolotti

If you missed it this year, now you know you can’t miss it next year! Follow @maialatapdx for details.

Thank you @cathywhims for the invite, and to the @nostranapdx team for orchestrating such a spectacular day. 🍷

Today is Sunday, the last day of a very busy week! Check out this Pastrami Rachel for (and documented by) @ngaloppo! He got his with the slaw in the middle to keep it neat and dry! I like your nice, yellow sweater, @ngaloppo. 😊 We’ve got plenty of pastrami, corned beef and Turkey, plus our new Hungarian chicken matzoh ball soup! Check out slide three to see the collagen-rich soup broth. We have a limited amount of soup today, so if you’re craving some #jewishpenicillin you should come get it while we got it! Scroll for a Chef Syoma picture after his haircut. #matzohballsoup #pastrami #cornedbeef #reuben #jewishdeli #nydeli #pdxdeli #pdxfoodcarts #saintberdoodle

Buckwheat Black Sesame is on special this Monday! Come on out 🤎 pre orders are up today & tomorrow for Mondays pickup 3:30-6pm.

Also our friends at @dearfranciscoffee have been roasting a delightful natural Guatemalan coffee called El Bonito that we wanted to share with you! The Fairbanks Blend will always be our go to favorite coffee at home, but with spring in the air it’s fun to have something extra fruity & funky 🌸
